More Sterling Spoon shows
I thought they'd add Fishbone for some West Coast dates. Looks like San Fran, CA with Fishbone on 9/21.
Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
they'll be in vegas too, either the 9/24th or 25th http://lineup.lifeisbeautiful.com/band/janes-addiction

They should play the Hollywood Palladium or even The Wiltern, there's no way they'll come close to selling out an outdoor shed like Irvine unless they're opening for someone like the Chili Peppers.SR wrote:and LA/OC @ Irvine Meadows....or not; thought I saw this somewhere, but it's likely if not already announced

Hang out way up on the lawn for a packed house, you get a good feel that place holds as much as a typical arena.SR wrote: Just looked it up.....16k plus capacity. Never felt that big to me.
The weird thing about Irvine, it was supposed to close a year or two ago and the property developed into more housing/condos. I dunno what happened to forestall that. I saw some of the first shows there back at the beginning of the '80's (I even did Lion Country Safari a few times in the 70's before IM was built) and most of that area for miles was virtually all orange groves and wilderness, now there's tract homes ringing the backside of the parking lot.

Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
I'm honestly surprised no one in the Jane's camp was like "no way". Surely they had input on who was gonna get booked for this thing?
Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
yes he is. Currently in Tel Aviv with them...bman wrote:Eric is in Garbage right?

Yeah, I did a major when the guy said Eric "hasn't been kind" to the legacy of the band.Romeo wrote:Who is that kiss ass?Noonesshocking wrote:Dave has addressed the elephant in the room:

RIGHT???
He's the only one who has been kind. The other three have dragged that old corpse through the mud and back again.....

Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
Just in general it's an odd decision. They could have very easily chosen literally any other band that's well enough known instead of Garbage. Especially since there seems to be bad blood. Seems completely unnecessary to me. Who knows though, maybe Eric will come out for Jane Says? That would be one of the better decisions the band have made in a long time. It would be great if they threw aside all the bullshit and finish the material they worked on in '09, but that seems like a pipe dream at this point.

Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
I don't know if it's been long buried or at least forgotten, but there used to be some bad blood between Perry and Ian Astbury of The Cult over the whole Gathering Of The Tribes/Lollapalooza festival idea. Which leads to the joke - "Perry, Ian and Eric get stuck in an elevator...."
BTW, this is a 93.1 Jack FM radio sponsored festival. They're making a major deal out of the "big secret announcement" today at 5pm which is probably why someone had Dave delete his tweet.

Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
Part of me agrees with Dave at times, but then I watch old shit, catch the vibe of them being fucking untouchable and think man what happened to these guys? Who knows, maybe Eric will make a peace offering but that doesn't seems his style, plus I'm not really sure what he should apologize for. "Perry, I'm apologizing that your ego can handle no criticism whatsoever."
Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
I just don't think any right minded person with an issue with PF would even give it another thought. It's like arguing/reasoning with a Trump supporter.....like playing chess with a dodo bird who shits on the board, and as he leaves says he'll fly away in victory.

Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
This is the most interesting Jane's related thing that's popped up in years. Yes, they shared the same bill back in 2012, but the circumstances were a bit different. Back then, they just happened to cross paths during concurrent album cycles. This particular event is really JA's day and its commemorating the 25th anniversary of lollapalooza. I'm assuming they are playing ritual in full.
It's a tall order to expect Eric to treat this as "just another gig" and remain somewhat on the outside of a celebration of something he played in integral part in creating. I almost wonder if they'll arrange to have Justin Meldal-Johnsen fill in just for this show.
At the same time, if there was ever an opportunity to mend fences, its now. There doesn't have to be a public reunion or anything. Just an agreement among the four of them that they each contributed to something great. Although, that should have happened a long time ago.

Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
This guy's talkin' about Perry, right?!@DaveNavarro Could be an awkward situation, since he will be in front of a pro-JA crowd, who knows he has been less than kind to the legacy.
Re: More Sterling Spoon shows
I love how eric is blamed with shiting on the legacy when he is the only one to take the time and address the og fans...he respected that legacy more than perry and Dave imho
