can't speak for Mescal, but I care about quality, that's why I can't put my seal of approval on a song like COTN much and then trash it instead of course  ....but ironically, almost right above I praise the hell out of BSSM

And I also love Bssm

And I am hard to please.

My gf said you were a good judge of character Perkana :-)

I didn't mean just in this case, in other threads, I know right away it's one of you but sometimes I confuse you. You have a very similar taste and not just in music. I enjoy reading your opinions because it gives me a view I hadn't thought about. When you actually like something, it's actually something good. Keep up the good work!

Now that the leaked track has been gaining attention, and consequently so has OHM, the RHCP are suddenly over all the "bad vibes" they felt about the album.

What a load of shit that is/was. But good on them to play this song. It's fucking awesome.

I expected that to sound bad, but I was pretty blown away. That sounded really, really great. They should have never stopped playing this song and I hope they keep it in the set for the upcoming tour.

Sidenote: I love the OHM stuff because there is this undercurrent of dark humor throughout the whole thing. I especially hear it in Dave's playing. Aeroplane is great. It's one of AK's best vocal performances and the lyrics are actually about something. The instrumentation is top notch and it's just fun to listen to. The band is at it's best when they play well but keep the goofiness.

.
you really think that's the reason?! :hs: well, maybe, pathetic if so.

Josh Klinghoffer should get down on his knees for three hours every night and thank his personal god and say: I'm a really mediocre and sloppy guitar player AND I'M IN THE CHILI PEPPERS!! It's a miracle! Thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!!

Here's how it's done :davegoatee: :davegoatee: :davegoatee: :davegoatee:

I saw Peppers two nights in a row in 91 with Pearl Jam and Pumpkins opening! They were great. I loved BSSM and Mother's Milk. I even liked a couple of songs off of OHM b/c of Dave. But I quickly got over Peppers after 92.

I saw them with PJ in '92, Lolla......RHCP were abysmal. PJ opened the festival and were truly amazing, EV in particular

I'm just seeing this now.

From about 1997 to 2001 I was one of the most prolific RHCP bootleg traders and after 1998 this song was one of the holy grails in the community. It was written about shortly after it was recorded on RHCP's official web site. People got all excited and then shortly after Dave left the band, and that was that.

I remember begging Anthony's dad to get the track released somehow, but he wouldn't or couldn't. He had previously been pretty accomodating with some of my requests.

Anyway, 15 years later it's cool to hear it. I think it's pretty good recognizing it is just a demo. It has a nice uplifting feel and I think AK's melody actually works pretty well.

OK, I see from the RHCP thread that my post is somewhat redundant....

I realized they were "getting really old" when they put out that awful "By the Way" album comprised entirely of slow, acoustic songs. If I had a time machine and I took that album back to 1987 and played it for the RHCP that had just released the Uplift Mofo Party Plan I'd probably get bitch slapped. Something happened to this band after Californication, and they've never been the same.

Oh, and OHM fucking rocks. I got into RHCP due to BSSM (as did a lot of people), and the period of time between BSSM and OHM seemed like such an eternity, I still remember to this day when Warped first leaked before the album came out, I remember the feeling I had the song gave me-- ecstatic. I preordered the album and picked it up the day it came out. There've been few albums I've been as excited about-- Kettle Whistle was one of them.

Regarding "Circle of the Noose," I have to say after all these years-- how anticlimactic. I don't even know if I listened all the way through. That song was like, a myth of legendary proportions for years. I was so excited after OHM when they "got back to the studio" and tracked this song for OHM's "followup." Of course we all know how that ended, but all this time has allowed my mind to run rampant with wonder and curiosity, and I think I over-hyped myself so much I had imagined this song to be some big, sprawling epic and it's more like just a throwaway studio jam. Oh, well. I think I liked the mystery better.

Oh, c'mon...what do you expect? Should they still be dancing around with socks on their cocks and writing songs like "Sir Psycho Sexy"?

Considering the music they used to record back in the 80s and 90s, I think they are aging relatively gracefully (then again, I was always just a casual fan...not a die hard). But to each their own. Some people want to see people age like Lemmy/Iggy, while others want to see people age like Neil Young.

They've aged infinitely better than Jane's. That's for damn sure.

Yeah, why wouldn't they be writing songs like Sir Psycho Sexy?

rhcptv5 keeps delivering
some interesting parts here. navarro was definitely near his lifetime form here. strange how the album came to be mostly hated and discarded, but i see from comments that there is an undercurrent of people who love OHM

lets hope that they leak the entire 2004 sessions (full album recorded with only 4 or so songs released so far) that Fru decided not to release

Dave was at his peak still back on that album. And it was fantastic. Even Anthony brought his A game for that one.
