Of course I'm going. Then She Did every show. Come on. Who knows, maybe they'll bring Morgan out, or maybe the Dude from the Mt Baldy show! I'm just hoping that Stop will not have the Suspension girls anymore!

you're flying out for this festival, or just going if/when it comes to a theater near you? if the former, you'd best confirm that the advertisement is accurate. i have a feeling it's a misprint. if not, it's about the lamest roll out for a theme tour as can be imagined. the NS leadup was impressive - many people i know who know i like(d) jane's heard about it and mentioned it to me. none of them had any reason to utter the words 'jane's addiction' in many years before that.

You say that, but as a percentage, 0.005% of the crowd is probably someone from these boards. So there must be still a heavy following. To be fair if they did a Ritual UK club circuit (which they won't) I would go to two or three near me that weren't in London.

I'm not going to Austin unless I have a work thing there. I'm sure they'll be playing other shows as well. I bet there'll be some Brooklyn Bowl Vegas shows around Thanksgiving. I'd consider going there for the Ritual shows.

You can be assured of it. There is no way Perry is going to learn an additional 2 songs and get used to a 9 song set to just NOT play it for the next 2 years.

How hard is it to sing (learn?) a song....that you wrote....and you only have about 20-25 of them worth remembering?.....and that's counting ones where the primary thing to do is hum and maybe mumble a couple incoherent words........?

I apparently sing (along) more jane's tunes than perry does....?

Maybe I just don't understand what it is really like to be a musician.....? :hs:

springstein and vedder and bono must be absolute geniuses...? :conf:

A posting on ja.org "confirmed" the ritual performances per the band's manager.

There's a difference between being a musician, and an entertainer.

Perry is an entertainer. He plays music for the glory and the fame. He does it to be the center of attention. He puts on sequins and shakes his hips and has backup dancers. It's about satisfying his ego to watch people fawn all over him.

Springsteen and Vedder and Bono are musicians. They play because they enjoy playing music. Standing up there in front of people for 3 hours is something they do because they enjoy it. They show up in street clothes, plug in, rock until they are exhausted, and then say goodnight after they have expended themselves. Then they go hang out with their musician friends on the roof of the venue and an acoustic and play more music.

Perry just plays the show because upon completion he has a reason to hop in his limo and head out clubbing to celebrate.

To be fair, Bono screws up the lyrics to just about every song they perform, even warhorse tunes that have been played a bazillion times like Where The Streets have No Name.

Nice to see they "properly" documented a performance of the original lineup with an official release from this show. Talk about embarrassing. Heaven forbid they release a long form video of the 1990 Palladium shows. :eyes:

Seriously, Perry may have received some footwear being hurled at him back in the day...but when he started traipsing around in these ridiculous outfits during the NIN/JA tour, people should have been lighting up bags of dog poo at the foot of the stage.

Didn't Eric say, in Sonny's interview, that the sequins and the cape was basically Perry's "fuck you" to Eric after Eric asked him to tone down the camp and the karaoke Jane Says?

Perry's clothing has completely normalized since 09. Thank God he no longer wears those liberace clothes.

Yes. I believe Perry even tried to get Eric on board with a stylist for the tour and Eric was having none of it.

Nothing’s Shocking is one of those once heard, never forgotten albums that bands don’t even pretend to make anymore; easily on par with other titanic releases that came out of L.A. in the ’80s and early ’90s: Appetite For Destruction, Straight Outta Compton, Paul’s Boutique, and The Chronic. And yet, the Jane’s oeuvre and myth doesn’t feel aged, or classic. If anything, it’s still a live wire; dangerous and dark in spite of the passage of time. “My sex and my drugs and my rock n’ roll,” Perry Farrell sang back in 1990 on the Ritual De Lo Habitual album, “are the only things that keeps me here.” Two decades later there’s not one note of corniness or kitsch to Jane’s. While the band never said, “Hey kids, drugs are cool,” they made no apology for exulting in substances stronger than pot. Sex, as Jane’s portrayed it, was bold as well; a ritual, with candles lit, altars built, spirits stirred. It’s part of what bonded them to a devoted fan base and let’s face it, what kept them interesting.
:lolol: :lolol: :lolol: :lolol:

Well, I guess he got some of it right.....

* live wire (who knows what product Perry will be shilling on any given night!!!)
* dangerous (in destroying their legacy going forward)
* and dark (it has been hard for the long time fans, that is true.....)

.....but I don't think in the context he was intending....... :noclue:
