Same here. I was very surprised not only how quickly I took to the album but also how I still like hearing many of the tracks this far away from when it was released.

What the fuck are you saying?

Coffee Shop is the best song on the album. That intro! first the guitar, and then when the dums and bass kick in! Oh yeah! That bassline is badass!

that's pretty much where it ends in my opinion. aeroplane is a terrible song. my friends is a good song but it could be by any alt band from that era. so it's not a great example either way. pea is a flea solo track, so we take that one out. i love that one, though.

the rest of the album falls flat. the songs sound like they are forced together and aren't even worthy of being b'side or rarities.

warped and one big mob aren't enough to carry this album.

bssm, mother's milk murder this album in comparison, if you want to do that.

californication, stadium arcadium, and i'm with you are all much better than OHM. obviously just opinions, but there it is from my side.

deconstruction is the high mark of dave navarro's post jane's addiction work.
Ok, I didn't even read the rest of your post because because I was so startled by your opinion on coffeeshop ...

But Aeroplane being a terrible song?? Really? I think you're shit in bed.

If you don't get the groove of that song ... you must be

Walkabout is great, One Hot Minute is great, Shallow be thy game, .... fingerlicking good yall.

I don't understand how you can not like this album if you're an early RHCP and a JA fan. It's just the best of both worlds.

But indeed opinions are opninions. But you're still shit in bed.

Californication, By The Way, I'm with you, Stadium arcadium make me wanna :jasper: Listened to Californication maybe 3 times, the others maybe one time. Talking about boring. You might as well listen to Elliottt Smith. I played UMPP, MM, BSSM and OHM to death. Flea was never the same after that.

And for the record; I think deconstruction sucks

You're fucking crazy.
i think there are good songs there, anthony managed to change his vocal for warped, one big mob is the perfect melding of anthony's vocal style to dave's guitar.
Don't know about "perfect", but you're right for the most part.

I can understand this point.

This is one of the craziest things I've ever read from you, EVER. And you know you're written some crazy shit in the past. Those three albums should've never been released, they're absolute nonsense, lazy pieces of garbage that would be throwaways for any other band. They are totally cringe inducing.
deconstruction is the high mark of dave navarro's post jane's addiction work.
You're god damn right.

The spirit of JA and RHCP are two completely different vibes...the two DID NOT mix well and the idea was only good in theory imo...Dave was NOT Jane's Addiction anymore than John F is the Peppers. It was a great idea to try and bring Dave in...I remember being thrilled at the time, but it really didn't work out imo...

And Mescal, ya know I got love for ya, but saying Decon sucks? People have gotten shot for less where I'm from... :essence: :essence:

I can see where Mescal comes from a bit. I don't think Decon sucks but I think it's overrated around here. I think OHM is far, far better, cooler, more varied and that it's one of Dave's finest hours

Decon for me is far and away better. Dave and the Peppers never could see how that would have worked. I agree with ES and the fact that JA & RHCP's vibe just being very different. Don't know any of them personally, but they just don't seem to fit.

I was just listening to Decon last weekend, I just really enjoy that CD. OHM just doesn't do it for me. BSSM is my favorite Peppers CD. It brings back great memories. The good times had during that year of college, 91-92.

I like Deconstruction more than I like Jane's Addiction :noclue:

Perry's stupidity ruined Jane's a bit for me, as much as I love the band. If I had to pick one album to listen for the rest of my live, between Ritual and Deconstruction, I'd choose the latter.

yikes. Decon sucks? Mescal, for shame . . .

Question for people who don't like Deconstruction - do you happen to like joy division?

No

they aren't the same, no. but generally, people complain about eric's voice. that's a fair point of comparison I think.

I think I actually like Polar Bear more than Decon

I like Dave as a guitar player but in both projects the most interesting things were what Eric was doing.

Decon is one of those cd's where i'll have the volume cranked up rocking out and then once Erics voice kicks in I'm like holy shit turn that shit down. Love Polar Bear though.
