I'm fairly certain someone mentioned it in a post or maybe Perry's lame ass put that on Twitter?

Notice he says "and the band is getting a star in Hollywood"

Not "We're", and he's done more in Janes than Etty

But her point is that Etty would most likely say "we're getting a star."

You've been a bit grumpy lately, Matz... is everything ok?

I assumed that had to be it. I hadn't taken it personally though, just genuinely hoping you'd be fine

My guess is that the San Manual show is what Chris is referring to here-- that's somewhere in the third week of October and probably thought of as an LA show, even though it's not terribly close. Maybe they'll add another, though.

after watching chaney and his "reserved" aka "completely asleep onstage" style on the uproar tour .. i have conclude that chaney is the epitome of all that went wrong and is wrong with JA .. i wuz diggin an old lenobyl janes boot and even martyn had a spark of "something" .. janes sounded decent enough .. maybe even better than with flea .. whom apparently cant play bass with a pick .. they pulled out kettle, hungry and pets on that tour .. nothing involving chaney has been worth the memorex disk it was burned to .. the guy is has an unnatural ability to suck the life out of everything, songs, photos, live shows, hair appreciation all over the world ... interesting that he acknowledges that dave and stephen didn't even write a lot of the JA material .. i was listening to that first black radio club show and those songs pre dave and stephen sound pretty much the same .. dave and steve play them technically better but its not like they came up with new parts or anything .. maybe its that old line up that really needs to get back together .. chris broderick and that other guy .. i don't think eric wrote all guitar and drum parts .. nor did perry ..

i'd like to know all the songs dave and perk had nothing to do with writing .. so far

jane says (according to chaney)
obvious (perry hummed to the band)
pigs
mountain
idiots
kettle
aint no
had a dad
my time (all black radio club)

anybody know any other songs that were pre dave/steve?

I'm just pleased that he mentions my friend George Massenberg, who is a brilliant producer and a true Renaissance man. And yes, he did invent parametric EQ. When he was, like, 17.

I do find these little insinuations that Dave is a lazy musician kind of telling. He can still reach some amazing heights in like, the "Three Days" solo, but it doesn't seem like there's much of a passion for creating new music. But I dunno. Maybe he's got hard drives full of stuff we'll never even know about.

Cheney's bass line in the chorus of ETTL is pretty cool. Way better than that early version where Sitek was just repeating the root notes.

I don't think Chaney meant to say he's lazy. Dave's just a musician who seems to be happy where he's at technique wise, composition wise e.g. and doesn't have any interest in learning new theory or approaches or study other players all day long like Frusciante probably does. That's fair enough, Dave's got a lot of options so being holed up practicing guitar for 8 hours a day isn't the most desireable thing for him. I'd think the same way if I were him. Also, keep in mind how hard Dave worked as a teenager to get to where he is now

Playing ANR tuned down a whole step at an Indian Casino while his once-great frontman wheeze-talks the lyrics?

I'm just teasing. Dave is a killer player who payed his dues and maintains a high level of competence even under some less-than flattering show conditions. A professional, in other words. I just wish he'd done more with his talent during the years when he had the passion. But he's done plenty, so there's no shame in being DN.

I don't think Chaney gets a fair shake. I saw two EA 2009 shows and 1 sucked. I don't think you can blame Chaney for the lack of imagination in the set list or Perry's voice being shot.

He wasn't saying Dave was lazy, he was saying if he was a technique minded guy his skills would be outrageous because guitar/music seem to come so naturally to him...

Thought it was funny how Eric called him in 08 for a refresher on no one's leaving.
