Jane's Addiction has a new song. "Another Soulmate" Writing a great song is not easy. People take for granted great songwriting. I write a song with the ambition of levitating the listener. There are some poor songs being passed around today. God knows how they get popular? My reaction to them is- they make me feel stupid. People that distribute such bad songs should be prosecuted for making people feel dumb. Isn't there a law for that?

I am flabbergasted this song may be released. My goodness is that song fuckawful.

There is nothing "new" about this song in any sense of the word either. It was "written" three years ago. I say "written", because the riff is a recycled panic channel riff (can't remember which song, but this was talked about a lot at the time), and the vocal melody is pretty much porpoise head.

I gave it a pass when they originally played it because it simply sounded like a work in progress demo. But that song need(ed) so much work to get it into even a mediocre Janes tune, I'm almost curious how hopefully drastic they've retooled it.
