I would have guessed Capitol records but Perry said in a recent interview that they were done with them.

I wouldn't be surprised if Perry ponied up for it himself. I'm sure it's a tax write-off (promotion) and obviously it's a big ego stroke knowing you're honored among the likes of Alfred Hitchcock, The Beatles and ...umm, Shrek.

What's typically screwy about this in usual JA fashion is usually when someone (pays for) gets a star, they arrange the date to tie in with a major promotional event like the opening of a movie, the release of an album, big local show, etc. There's no new album, the tour's basically done, they haven't even announced a LA area club show tied to this which I thought would be a slam dunk.

The only thing I can imaging being celebrated is the band going into another extended hiatus.

Rock Walk is strictly a Guitar Center thing based around their big store on Sunset Blvd. Honors only musicians and those connected to the music industry. Totally different and less... prestigious than the Hollywood Walk Of Fame which "honors" all different types of entertainment from tv, movies to broadcasters and fictional characters like Tinker Bell.
