So i guess she's not a nurse and he's not an unfortunate flashmob victim in space anymore, now they are universal chemistry. We didn't know that it would blow up
With such might
The stars are even brighter
Contrasted by the night
Sent out shock waves
Filled up the outer space
Even the ghost came
To the late, late, late show
Watch us play
Everything went tossing
Everyone was talking
Making up their faces
Wonder what we look like n@ked?
Ah the irresistible force met the immovable object
Oh!
Ah the irresistible force met the immovable object
Banging and banging
And banging and banging
And banging
Together
We've become a big business
A galaxy merger
The two of us a big bang
God is a real man
God is a dad (x2)
Ah! The irresistible force met the immovable object
Oh!
Ah! The irresistible force met the immovable object
Banging and banging
And banging and banging
And banging together
Ah! The irresistible force met the immovable object
Oh!
Some may call me a lucky shot
No, but it was not
Banging and banging
And banging and banging
And banging and banging
Banging and banging
And banging and banging
And banging together

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread
Also, after looking at the lyrics, i am 100% sure this has nothing to do with the Big Bang, and everything to do with him meeting Etty

I don't care for the song very much, but that said the verses don't bother me much relative to the chorus. If I took out anything, it would be the wordless "ahhhh ah ah ahhhh" stuff on the chorus. I really dislike that.CaseyContrarian wrote:The verses don't bother me as much as the chorus, however catchy. What I hate the most is the cheesy-ass spoken word thing at the beginning. The last word he speak-sings is not in key and just utterly ridiculous.Deconstruction wrote:The song 2 minutes in and onwards is amazing, before that the verses fuck up the flow. I wish Perry would have put more work into the verse melody and lyrics, it just sounds so boring.Six7Six7 wrote:Yeah the verses are what ruins the song.hokahey wrote:I heard IF on the local rock station driving home last night. Turned it up really loud. Really amazing music. Can deal with the verses. Love the chorus.
Otherwise it's pretty solid.
Or... should i not express that opinion publicly?
As for the spoken word part, yeah, the last word is horribly out of tune, but I actually don't mind it too much, because that's better than having Perry be auto-tuned. I'd rather hear the little flaws - it takes away a tiny bit of that smothering glossiness.
Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread
I think the album will be okay but it will not have the staying power of the classics or of alot of my other favorite albums.

It sounds HEAPS GOODER than the vocal mix. Shame that the chorus had the box too. Maybe we'll be lucky and get a bonus disc of instrumental mixes when the album drops.kv wrote:i don't care for the song but it's amazing how much better it sounds like thatintertwoven wrote:i'm SAYIN!No Verse Vocals (aka, instrumental except for the choruses)

Listened to yesterday's podcast of DM. I thought the part about the "great Rolling Stone" interview was awesome and so funny. Good job Dave!

Will TGEA be released on vinyl? Any news on that?
Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread
I don't believe we've seen anything about it being released on vinyl yet.

sure seems like itMescal wrote:Will TGEA be released on vinyl? Any news on that?
McIntosh Laboratory has joined forces with award-winning designer John Varvatos to host as series of special “vinyl listening experiences." The first featured the band Jane ’s Addiction at the Los Angeles SoHo House on Monday.
Band members Perry Farrell , Dave Navarro , Stephen Perkins and Chris Chaney were on hand as their new album, “The Great Escape Artist,” was played in its entirety through a McIntosh SOHO System, for the assembled listeners in a living room- type environment. Classic Jane’s Addiction tracks on vinyl were also played, allowing listeners to experience the emotional impact made of music heard through a McIntosh audio system.
“ It is great to share what the audio enthusiast community has known about McIntosh for so many years," McIntosh’s Global Vice President for Sales and Marketing Linda Passaro said. "People who enjoy good music are a passionate group and with McIntosh, it's like you are having a private recording session with your favorite artist right in the comfort of your own home.
“This is our big kick off night with designer John Varvatos in LA, John has always had a passion for music, so this is a natural partnership. The biggest challenge we face is reaching a new audience so we are actively reaching out, to show people that good audio equipment is an investment. If you care about the music, you need quality components," Passaro added.
"This is the first of our vinyl listening experiences and it's a very organic way for McIntosh to work with bands and artists so the musicians can express what McIntosh means to them and how using McIntosh showcases the quality of their music. McIntosh has been a global leader in prestige quality audio for over 60 years. McIntosh was at Woodstock and we were the wall of sound for the Grateful Dead and now we are moving that quality sound experience forward to a new generation of music lovers.”
“McIntosh has always been cool. For years, if you had a McIntosh system you had the coolest room. I remember when a Led Zeppelin LP would drop and we couldn't wait to listen to it on McIntosh. We are thrilled to be able to experience with you the true stories and tales from our latest album, the Great Escape Artist in vinyl on McIntosh," Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell said.

If you have McIntosh system you are the richest man in the room.
Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread
Oooh shit, I too was wondering in silent if TGEA would be released on vinyl. That seriously can make all the difference in the world in terms of sound.
Case in point, the latest Foo Fighters album. Grohl, Smear, Vig and, on one track, Novaselic in the same room, making music via analogue means. What could possibly go wrong?
I heard that shit on CD first because the vinyl release got delayed, and I fucking HATED it. The songs and the sound just were not doing it for me whatsoever. I was bummed out beyond belief.
Then the wax finally arrived in the mail and I gave it another listen with $350 headphones, and it was like I was in the same room with them, listening to them bash out this maelstrom opus of sound that took me back to the glory days of Seattle.
So figuring Jane's has Pro-Tooled the shit out of the new songs, I was praying there would be a vinyl release so I could have, at the very least, the sound issue covered. The actual songs themselves...nothing is going to make them sound good if they're simply not any good.

So the album is 38 minutes and 54 seconds.
Isn't that about length of Ritual's side 2?
