hadn't checked out MoM out in many years, musically this song is better than anything off TGEA imo...cool riffs

I'd kill for a Hard Charger like song to be written.

How much of this is the result of age and the lack of drugs? I think that had a huge impact on where their music came from. They were living the life and now look what type of lives they live. Also for Perry it comes down to his muse. We can all agree that his current muse, except 6767 because he loves her, she inspires well the type of shit he is putting out.

You seem to forget the awesome atmospheric stuff they leaked out while working on TGEA that Perry chose not to sing on.

But yeah, they just aren't giving Perry anything cool to work with. :eyes:

"Something Brewing" is a phrase I often use to describe general gastrointestinal distress when something I've eaten doesn't agree with me...

So, yeah, sounds about right.

Those TGEA clips do sound cool. Maybe they'll be on Kind Heaven!

Kind Heaven will be dubstep and Etty will be the primary singer. Guaranteed.

the problem with tgea is that they tried to modernize their sound using electronic music and hip producers. i will listen to strays before tgea any day.

i read this interview from roddy of faith no more and this part made me think of jane's.
To me, the new album is classic Faith No More—like you never went away. Does it feel that way to you, and is that important?

It is kind of important, but I honestly feel like there’s no other way we could do it. We’re just gonna sound like the way we sound. We’re not gonna sound like anything else because we’re not really capable of it. But thanks—that’s very nice to hear. For the first time, I’m talking to people who have actually heard the record, and it’s cool to get their take. It’s interesting to hear you say that.

I have to admit I was skeptical at first. When bands get back together after an extended period of time and write new music, it’s not always so good.

Yeah, I don’t blame you. I feel that way, too. If a band that you love when you’re younger gets back together, it’s like, “I’m scared. I don’t even wanna hear it.” It’s a hard thing to pull off. A lot of bands try to sound current and it doesn’t really fly. I was really rooting for the Pixies, you know, but it’s a hard thing to pull off. For us, I think part of the success came from not telling anyone we were doing it. We did it behind closed doors and didn’t have any outside expectations. There was no one else involved except the five of us. So we did the only thing we’re capable of doing, which is sounding like ourselves. But there was an intention to sort of take it back to our roots. I’m pretty confident that we pulled that off.

By "they" you mean "Perry"

From what I have seen, Dave is still making music on guitar, Stephen on drums, and Cheney on bass.

I'd be willing to wager a great deal of money that the electronic elements you're hearing are coming from the singular guy who is making music on his laptop and who goes out playing DJ gigs in his free time.

I mean, it's POSSIBLE that Perkins/Navarro/Cheney are out playing DJ gigs as well and are working on a techno side project with immersive elements but they've never advertised it if they are.

But yeah "they" are trying to add electronic music and hip producers. "They" sure do have shit taste in music these days. I wish "they" would stick to singing and making art out of things they picked out of the trash.

"They"

Funny you should say that. I realized how much I disliked Eric and Sony when I was chastised and banned from 1% for bad mouthing Perk for his involvement with them. That was...2000?

tgea is not that electronic, is it!? I could go back and listen I'm aware of that but I'm having a good day so far so I'd rather not.

I think they should have gone way, way more electronic. they should have run Dave's guitars through filters and fx and chopped them up etc etc and used electronic drums and cool synths and sampling as on Kettle Whistle (the song)....= way more interesting and COOL

My main problems with TGEA:

1) Insincere...we all know that the only reason this album was recorded was because Eric did the interview with Sonny. If there wasn't this huge (justified) perception that Eric was an integral part in Jane's sound, Perry would never have bothered to try and "prove" himself to the fans. He would have just continued touring with the "hits".

2) "Irresistible Force"...sounds like something from the late 90s or early 2000s. Shitty, hard "alternative" rock by crap like Linkin Park. Highly processed and without teeth.

3) Like Strays, the album feels kind of one-sided and uneven. With Strays, it was all short "rock" songs. With this album, it was all gothic Pro Tools meets Muse or something. I commend them for feigning an effort to try something different...but like Strays, the album lacks any real diversity. The album (and songs individually) doesn't really go anywhere. Both Strays and TGEA have a handful of decent songs each...which could've made one good album (if they'd were to match in production style...and add one or two additional LONG songs).

4) "Ultimate Reason" sounds like something that might have been on Porno For Pyros 3. Doesn't seem like a Jane's song. "Words Right Out of My Mouth" is Panic Channelesque.

5) The horrendous music videos...with the exception of the "Twisted Tales" video.

I always really liked their acoustic version of "Just Because". It had a dark, 80s vibe...and kind of reminded me of the original band (along with Everybody's Friend).

The live version of True Nature was always "meh" for me. I hate live intro to that song.

A new acoustic record would be cool. I don't mean acoustic versions of all their old hits, new material. Perrys voice cant compete with plugged in instruments anymore.

This would have been a logic followup to Good Gods Urge in the late 90s...however now, even if he did this...it's too little, too late. He has lost pretty much all respect from the fans (at least around here).

I've never met a person who knew who Perry Farrell was but isn't much of a Jane's Addiction fan, who didn't think that he sucked now. Pretty much everyone I've met in that category will say something like: "Yeah, I liked them (Porno or Jane's) back in the day, but they're/he's kinda shitty these days." :noclue:

I hear what you're saying...however, back when I still "Liked" Jane's Facebook page, you'd see people constantly kissing the band's ass. "Dudes, the new track rocks!" [in reference to the recorded version of Another Soulmate]

nice to see them celebrating the 26th anniversary of this album. it's been said many times but they have to be the laziest band ever.

i'm curious to see how this sells. $92-$118 for tickets. no way it sells out or comes close does it?

This should be a Ritual show. This is a great club though. This was the best of their TGEA shows imo. And yes, they are the laziest touring band out there. A Rirual show would require too much rehearsal.
