it was tuned down, so not that exciting. Now Relapse on the other hand....THAT was exciting...the 16 year anniversary of Hammerstein is coming up in a week

I'm glad you enjoyed it. But I guess I have the lowest tolerance on this board when it comes to that tuning thing, it just ruins it for me

avery back...come on...relapse was epic because people thought they'd never see the band again( or just ever for some)...but flea is not avery relapse was 2/4ths of the band...though i was was more jacked for relapse all that said...oh course if relapse had happened after strays it would all be diff lol....btw still anoys the fuck outa me that i am in the 3 days video and the show i saw ( i saw three that tour) show was godly...grand olympic...it was pre hammy but it was insanely epic...and aside from a few seconds in the 3 days video has been forgotten...no good video no good boot...fuck my life

the main difference for me between Relapse and the shows with Avery is that Dave was a way cooler guitar player in 97 than now. He's just going through the motions now playing relatively uninspired stuff imo live whereas on the Hammerstein show each solo is a work of art. Check the Stop! one or Ocean size or Three days etc etc, it's pretty mindblowing guitar playing to say the least.

Also the whole vibe of the tour was so cool, all the drug use, and people dressing up in the audience, feather boas everywhere. To me it's the coolest tour I've ever heard of

Of course it was great to see them reunite with Avery but still, and the end of the day he plays the same notes in Three days as Chaney does, so it's not THAT different sounding, let's be honest

it wasn't about how eric played the old songs or tuning or anything like that. it was about eric being back in the band and the possibility of them making new music.

Like KV, I didn't make it inside the La Cita show which remains one of the more epic clusterfucks I can recall. Nothing like standing outside as the band starts playing with some fat fuck telling everyone to leave because they aren't getting in, lol. But I did get in to the El Cid (which was excellent) and the Echoplex (which was pretty good) shows and for that few month span, it looked like the band was well on it's way to restoring their legacy.

But I have to add my voice to those that say Relapse was better - even better than the LA club shows. The vibe at the San Francisco Enit show was among the best of *any* show I've ever seen. Loaded, riding in the elevator with three nude glitter painted women to the top floor and seeing a bunch of people's eyes pop out when the doors opened and we all piled out - epic. Oh yeah, Flea's Addiction was great as well.

I think that video shows how or why exactly Eric is/was so fundamental for this band. He pushed Perry forward, by their animosisy, and also the rest of the band, by their musicianship.

Along with him, the soul was gone.

Forever.

And More.

The End.

It didn't really bug me at the club shows, but it absolutely grated on me at the NINJA show.

I went to El Cid. The last 5 years has actually been VERY good in Jane's land. They have played a TON on shows since then.

It's about quality, not quantity.

The shows are High Quality, the new music needs to be much better though.

Sinep and I were the very next in line, or the first refused entry. It was exciting and I am still bummed I missed that show. Funny too....one of us likely would have made it in but lizwiz held a spot for his girl and we all said 'okay'. . And I'll remind everyone, I was the only one on the boreds to say yes EA would rejoin. :wiggle: And, it was an exciting time.....there was real reason to be optimistic then.

What I find funny is so many of us were all at the same place and time and weren't even aware of it until some time later.

there were a lot of us there only person i saw then was miggy...i remember being on the metal railing by the front door and thinking " there is no way i don't get in now" then the line never moved again :jasper: but to be fair at least they tried to make it up to us with echoplex (i'd be way, way more pissed if i hadn't gone to echoplex)...when i saw how short the echoplex line was i called a friend and told him to get his ass down there he'd find a way in...and after making the poor girl at the door look over the list 3 times he just read a name close to his off the list and said "oh my wife calls me that and she did the ticket thing" lawl...worked...and was his first time seeing jane's

That La Cita footage is superb. There's so much energy and conviction.

Plus the effects on Perry's vocals are perfect - just the right balance of echo, loop and that weird tone he used pre-91.

I'm pretty sure he ditched that perfect combination of effects later on in the NINJA tour. Such a perplexing guy - how can he get it so perfectly right and then so spectacularly wrong?

Yes, true. I've met sinep, Liz, skorb, Vicki vale, kv, and miggy at shows. Maybe more...

I think there should be a n ANR meet up in Santiago, Chile for Lolla 2014. The leaked lineup looks pretty good.

The dates are 03/29 and 03/30.
