lets hope IF the rhof does induct jane's (they should, but they are shady) they leave out this part of the career in the induction ceremony "from NS to Rit...Lolla to indian cashino......"

why would anyone assume pfp will be any different??? granted when they first get back together it will garner our attn just because it's something new...but then their will be etty...and what chaney on bass after watt tires? the same old set lists the half full shows..another legacy badly tarnished....another cash line dried of every drop

whatever...get that money...but the art is looooooong dead with perry ( along with the talent)

I'm surprised Portugal the man is playing a casino. I'm even more surprised Jane's is opening for them. This is what happens when you run your reputation into the ground by making extremely poor and embarrasing decisions. I don't even blame this on them not having Eric. Plenty of bands lose key members, and though they get shit for it, they ultimately don't end up taking opening gigs like..... this.

I do admit that I kinda wish I was going so I could see all those hipsters get soulmated. Maybe it could help Jane's: they'll find it to be so bad that they'll like it to be ironic, thereby giving them a fresh new fanbase.

I'm sure that KROQ would be stoked to hear artists referring to their event as lame..

wonder what Chaney thinks about the situation. The guy's got a lot of options I would think when it comes to bands he could tour with and record with. I'd move on if I were him

I'm sure once the Jane's Addiction Media Machine gets to Frenzy mode, it'll be everywhere and there will be a huge ruckus leading to E! Tonight stories covering the media war between CampJA and CampKROQ... Dark Matter will get several calls from KROQ DJs or employees threatening Dave & co and any scalpers on eBay will be asking hundreds of dollars for what were originally free tix..

can't wait to see the hullabaloo...

Portugal is opening for Janes and it's selling much better than Uproar!

Main stream hipster? :noclue:

I've seen Portugal many times. Brilliant band with great work ethic and Strong songwriting. They release an album and play between 250-300 shows a year (released 5 albums before they were even signed). They deserve to be packing arenas, and should be headlining over Janes. They're better, and in their prime.

Saw a freeway billboard for this show off the 55 just south of Edinger.

Portugal, The Man are more of that same boring nonsense that ruined the previous decade (see: Modest Mouse).

Sonic Youth wannabe stuff.

Not hipster?! Is that the new thing that people say to mean 'hipster'?

You have different ears than I.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs sounds at the beginning (but Yeah Yeah Yeahs are more interesting), Peter, Bjorn and John, Deerhunter, whatever... it's mostly boring, even if sometimes passable. There have been at least 15 of these bands in the past 13 or so years. Some weird subsection of people always claims they're AMAZING.. (especially when they happen to have a modestly successful single). Five years later, they're nowhere to be found.

That should've been Jane's Addiction, I guess.. :scared:

that right there is a great line. you should write comedy or 'new rules' for bill maher or something.
saw atoms for peace in brooklyn the other night. i heard the tour hasn't done that well but in brooklyn, hipster central, it sold most of the room. we couldn't get over the hip costumes worn by all the williamsburg types. they had good taste though. the band was arty and dance crazy and fun and great. reminded me, in a very positive way, of the band on 801 Live. still i couldn't help trying to decide who made flea dress up funnier, perry or thom. they both made him wear a skirt.

we shouldn't mock hipsters. At least they started a culture in which mainstream culture will eventually follow.

There hasn't been a really good "movement" in a long time. Music has become so vanilla. I caught 2 seconds of that I heart radio concert on TV and thought, my god popular music is just awful
