The chronic negativity does get old sometimes. Especially if there's something you find you like about new Jane's. Okay we get it, you hate EVERYTHING they do. Perry sneezes and he just doesn't sneeze like who used to. Kleenex brand! Oh Perry!

No doubt, but some of the criticisms are a little silly. And I'm still convinced he can do no right by some.

I don't think anyone here doesn't want perry et al to produce good music. In many ways, from what I read here - including six7 - everyone wants the new jane's to be great. Sadly, even the new stuff is a little naff if we're being honest. Even though I don't personally warm to perry at all dave seems like a decent enough chap. However, the obvious cash grabbing on Jane's part is tiresome. And creatively, apart from dave, i think jane's is pretty much done. Perry's out put is simply embarrassing.

However, we may all be surprised when the album drops. I doubt it though.

On people posting here - we should engage maturly with their opinions and not just direct them to Mike's site unless they really are trolling. I don't Think jimmy what's his face was doing that. Having said that though - banter is always fun. I find six7 great value for that. Let's keep things friendly for all though.

I don't think IF or ETTL are embarrassing. It's still much better music than what most bands can come up with

I HATE IF. I am cool with ETTL and the snippets of underground I have heard. Look, this is an internet message board full of dicks. It's a nerdy ass interest we all share: ' Jane's Addiction '

Just give your opinion, and defend it. You can't be everybody's friend!

my opinion is that ettl is lyrically childish and demonstrates a hopeless lack of integrity on perry's part. wasn't there pf quote about how eric had to be removed from the band? when everyone, including dave, has conceded eric left of his own volition. so, what are the lies that perry is wanting to see the end of? what a silly little man he is.

the vid to if is truly awful.

i think it really is morbid curiosity that keeps me interested in following jane's. sad...isn't it.

I heard IF on the local rock station driving home last night. Turned it up really loud. Really amazing music. Can deal with the verses. Love the chorus.

I kind of like everyone here. The bigger personalities stand out. And if some folks like ringing a particular bell over and over, well, so long as they do it with panache...

All of this stuff gives this board (and gave the late Xiola) its flavor.

Also, fuck you all.

I dig both ETTL and IF. Seriously, I do! Love ETTL and the music video. IF is pretty damn good too, but the video is obviously pretty cheesy, but oh well. I don't hold them to the same level of greatness that they once proved they were capable of achieving. Time has gone by, expectations are lowered.

I just treat Jane's as what they currently are: older men whose music has changed with the years. Of course your sound is going to change from 1985 to 2011...or at least it fucking better otherwise you're obviously too caught up in the past/a one trick pony. I don't expect them to be the same nowadays as they were in the 80's/90's on: drugs/lyrical content/energy at live shows/visual appearance etc. I'd like to see anyone who wears the exact same shit in their 40's/50's as they did in their 20's - I highly doubt they will.

Just like I did with RHCP and Primus, I'm not expecting much out of the new Jane's album. And that's fine. I just want some new tunes to listen to, and don't care if it doesn't hold up to the ridiculously good albums in their back catalog - I can always break out those albums from a times past if I wanna' hear 'em.

I don't let the little things about the band bother me, otherwise I'd probably be super fucking upset with the band like most people on here!

Looking forward to the album. And the cover art.
My 2 cents yo :blah:

Yeah the verses are what ruins the song.

Otherwise it's pretty solid.

Or... should i not express that opinion publicly?

The song 2 minutes in and onwards is amazing, before that the verses fuck up the flow. I wish Perry would have put more work into the verse melody and lyrics, it just sounds so boring.

I don't like IF. I'm hoping within the context of the album, I find love for it.

The verses don't bother me as much as the chorus, however catchy. What I hate the most is the cheesy-ass spoken word thing at the beginning. The last word he speak-sings is not in key and just utterly ridiculous.

i think that's what we're all talking about though.

it's like he came up with this great melody for the chorus, and then put zero effort into getting there. just none. he just wrote whatever, spoke his way through it, then spent hours and hours to make sure he nailed the chorus just right.

i mean it's seriously THAT night and day.

it's strange seeing what he had to work with, and then what he actually did with it.

so much he could have done.
