I don't see it as exploiting her memory, what about the documentary? If it will ever see the light of day would you see it like that too? I believe it's something he needs to do and if it's good for him i am good with it too. No one will ever know what is going on in his mind regarding his mom.

I'd personally have no desire to see a documentary about Dave that focuses on this sort of thing. I like the guy for what he does (or maybe used to do) as a musician, not as a multi-media celebrity or freakish attention whore. I get that Dave has life long issues and fucked up "hobbies" that in some cases, play some part in dealing with his past. That's his thing and if that's what floats his boat, so be it. I also get that by definition, an exhibitionist is just an attention whore. But when he makes it a point to publicize his weirdness as if that's part of his personal self-therapy, it comes off as exploitive and pretentious. I just shake my head and laugh.

It would be interesting if he at least played music. And by that I mean, composed, recorded and performed it more than once a decade. His personal history is tragic and compelling to outsiders, but that's not the reason he's famous. He has every right to his exorcisms, public or private. But I suspect at this point, Dave is more concerned with celebrity than artistic exploration. Then again, who knows. Maybe he's inclined to be more private with his music and more public with other forms of expression. Pursuing artistic excellence may come with tradeoffs and regrets. I'd expect they are less than non-pursuit.

In hindsight, he really seemed to dial the celebrity thing down in 08-10. He toned down his stage presence and had some neat postings on JA.com right before the ninja tour that were totally about recording and touring, rather than something about directing a meat hook suspension porn documentary. It's interesting how having the original lineup together really tempered those aspects.

That was better than anything Dave has put out in the past 4 years. Also the quote of the thread. I'm tired of this shit. Once again Dave..........shut up and back it up. Maybe join a new band for a while? Or put out solo shit? I know that's a joke. So please stop with the sound pollution.

a few days ago he complained on twitter that iTunes season pass wasn't downloading for him. Maybe if he spent less time watching TV in bed he could get a few more things done, such as writing music, composing music, recording music, and playing music.
