EA fender

cool ty
Re: EA fender
Loads better quality that his interview with Sonny!
Re: EA fender
I like his approach to gear. Just a simple good quality bass is all you need. In contrast to all the gear nerds who buy new basses and guitars every second
Re: EA fender
I'm so in love with this guy, it's worrying.
Re: EA fender
I'm not in love with him but now I really start to see how sad it is they didn't figure out a way to write together

Re: EA fender
eric should have done this interview while sitting on a toilet like in soul kiss .. he should do all his interviews that way .. it just doesn't have that old magic otherwise
Re: EA fender
He's just great. I could listen to him all day long.Larry B. wrote:I'm so in love with this guy, it's worrying.

Re: EA fender
I know. It's so weird that I can be as disappointed as I was at my advanced age when I heard that those original reunion sessions with Trent had gone south. The NINJA tour was what it was, but my hope was that they'd find their way back into a studio and make something happen. I guess it's just not meant to be.Matz wrote:I'm not in love with him but now I really start to see how sad it is they didn't figure out a way to write together
Re: EA fender
right, I forgot about Trent, fuck, what an opportunity
Re: EA fender
yeah, I'm not actually in-love with him, but I just feel if we knew each other he'd be one of the few people I could call my "friend", you know. Someone trustworthy, someone you can learn stuff from, and a clever guy overall.

Do you think Perry felt 'threatened' by Trent?Matz wrote:right, I forgot about Trent, fuck, what an opportunity
Re: EA fender
I'd bet money on it.Bandit72 wrote:Do you think Perry felt 'threatened' by Trent?Matz wrote:right, I forgot about Trent, fuck, what an opportunity
I also bet he resented Trent telling him what it was that made Jane's sp special and encouraging him to work towards that again.
Re: EA fender
Very cool. Thanks for putting that video up.
Re: EA fender
Yeh. Don't get me wrong, I like Perry, but it seems to me that he's one of these people who is solely reliant on past achievements. Trent comes across as a worker and innovator. Always highly creative and a technophile.hokahey wrote:I'd bet money on it.Bandit72 wrote:Do you think Perry felt 'threatened' by Trent?Matz wrote:right, I forgot about Trent, fuck, what an opportunity

I'm betting this was the part that made him turn away most.hokahey wrote:

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but when I reflect on that time (reunion, NINJA, etc.), I almost feel like Perry was purposefully pushing Eric to leave the band again; maybe to show that he was willing to work with Eric again and play the good guy role.
Eric's original idea, from what I can recall, was to restart Jane's at their core in a basic raw form. Everything seemed to be going well with the L.A. clubs shows etc, and then the Trent sessions sadly imploded. From that point on, Perry jump started the Vegas Circus persona and slowly brought the pieces back into the fold. His stage costumes started to become more Liberace-esque, the dancers returned in Casey costumes , etc.....
As soon as Eric left again, the majority of the antics have disappeared and everything has toned back down. Perry's lost the Liberace costumes and he's NOW ready to write music in different ways and with other partners.
Again, I'm not trying to insinuate anything, but it was just very strange to see most of the bullshit from Perry (stuff that came from Perry himself) disappear after Eric left.
Re: EA fender
Eric is fucking awesome. Always has been, always will be.
Thinking back to the original members of the band "rebuilding" Jane's Addiction from the ground up (with club shows, cool posters and photos, clothing that wasn't embarassing, collaborating with Trent Reznor) makes me sad. There was so much potential there for the band to begin again where they had left off with Ritual or Kettle Whistle, and all the other bullshit would have then been buried (Strays, The Panic Channel, Etty drama, etc). :crying:

Re: EA fender
I'll bet Trent went in and said "ok this was all built around Eric's basslines, so let's get back to that..." and Perry chimed in with "but i brought my laptop full of song ideas. That's how i was planning on doing this" and it probably got really awkward.hokahey wrote:I'd bet money on it.Bandit72 wrote:Do you think Perry felt 'threatened' by Trent?Matz wrote:right, I forgot about Trent, fuck, what an opportunity

Trent wanted Jane's Addiction to be Jane's Addiction
Perry wanted Jane's Addiction to be The Perry Farrell Experience
One thing Perry didn't count on was Dave being all "i'm going full on experimental with my guitar playing for this album". That might be the only saving factor here.
Re: EA fender
Because in Perry's little mind, Jane's Addiction always was The Perry Farrell Experience.Six7Six7 wrote: Trent wanted Jane's Addiction to be Jane's Addiction

Re: EA fender
That's a commercial for the concert, which was being recorded with LG phones.
It's not like Dave is all "Hey, this is Dave Navarro, and when i'm not rocking with Jane's Addiction i am making phone calls with my fucking 3D LG phone" on a TV spot.
