Janes and Love and Rockets

#1 Post by Hokahey » Thu May 16, 2024 6:22 am

There’s a screen grab going around showing that Janes and Love and Rockets are supposedly playing Petco Park in San Diego on August 11. It’s cut off so it’s unclear if it’s just those two or it is part of a festival, but I have to imagine it’s part of a festival.

Further evidence. And apparently there is space there for smaller shows that is not the actual baseball stadium.

And judging by the fact that it shows a 6 PM start time apparently this is a Janes and Love and Rockets show only. Which makes me think they are touring together

Strange, showing sold out…
Still, would be amazing - saw both in the last year or so and they were incredible. If I’m honest, L&R were on a different level than Jane’s…. Still, I’ll be there. Will be quite a night.

Interesting…

Wonder where they play in NY if it’s a tour?

This link was tied to parking for the event. So not sure if it legitimately already sold out or if it just says sold out If it has not gone yet.

TM often shows holding pages as sold out - I'd wager that this is a placeholder until the event actually goes on sale.

There seem to have also been a radio station page in CT offering a chance to win tickets for a show, but that's bene pulled:

Knowing this band, they had the tour together and then something went wrong and that’s why this stuff is popping up, but then disappearing. But hopefully, it’s just that they’re realizing it’s not ready for release yet.

If so, considering the August 11 show is in San Diego, I would imagine the tour starts in California around that time and then runs into September where they have some festival dates.

I was really stoked that Janes is playing my local festival, but now I’m going to be a little sad if they are touring with Love and Rockets and I just get the Festival date instead.

I feel a plane ticket in my future because I want to see both bands, but will be bummed if the Evolution Festival in St. Louis doesn't have Love and Rockets. I'll still go in STL, but will see both somewhere.

I saw L&R in Oakland recently and they were so fucking good. Played some really deep cuts too - like Deep Deep Down, a 10 minute tripped out ambient jam that was built for psychedelics from an album that no one bought at the time. Or My Dark Twin, a song that was never originally released when they were around. Basically, they played knowing that everyone there was there because they would be up for it.
Mind you I saw Janes play Kettle Whistle, Then She Did and True Love and they were great too. Both on the same bill to the sunset of San Diego? So there

It’d have to be like FOO Fighters or RHCP, in that venue

I think some people might have missed my post that there is an area you can play at Petco Park that is for smaller acts.

Didn’t see this coming. You’d think L&R would also be on these festival bills. Maybe this will be announced tomorrow and tickets will go on sale next week?

I guess this is about 6K capacity. That makes more sense.

It’s an awesome bill. I think Eric continues to keep them on the right track. Theyd probably be opening for Bush right now or something otherwise.

If you google this, you can see some of what was there. The show is in Hartford.

Looks like that radio web mention one is/was at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Bridgeport, CT - which has a 5,700 capacity. Can’t see the specific date though, but that feels like the right size if this tour happens - here’s hoping it does!

Hope they come to Philly after cancelling last time around. Has to be a tour

Tried to see Bauhaus twice and it fell thru both times- first time Covid hit and second time Peter Murphy relapsed.

This’ll be a good consolation prize.

I saw that tour that STP, Bush, and The Cult did together, a few years ago, and I had a blast.

I heard on the radio a few days ago that Candlebox and Jerry Cantrell are opening for Bush.

Exactly. This band was a whisker away from a Candlebox like fate.

I saw that Cult/Bush/STP tour. I was there to see The Cult (life long fan) and thankfully, they were the headliners that night (the three bands alternated the order of appearance every night).

I always thought STP was kind of lame but had some good singles (especially “Interstate Love Song”)…same with Bush; always saw them as coattail riders or fake grunge (though I liked the odd tune like “Come Down”). Anyway, STP sucked. But Bush put on an amazing show and I was genuinely taken aback by how good they were. I didn’t start listening to them after that…but I now have a new level of respect for them as performers.
