Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
Maybe it was a day to day decision? ..Perhaps Perry didn’t know if he would be able to perform the next show? ..Saw a specialist that said let this heal? Take a week off?..I agree their communication sucked on this!! But it might have been a daily decision and they were hoping they could pull it together for the next gig?
Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
And all of the people speculating that no Jane’s Gear was being sold at missed shows..I think the band itself controls their venders that sell their T-Shirts and all that kinda stuff? So probably part of their performance contract and venders? ..They make huge money on that these days!! ..That wasn’t a BC snub just business!!

Whether it was a day to day decision making process or not, the artist, management, promoter, etc needs to be transparent during a time like that. It’s only fair.

Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
Considering how innocuous Perry makes it sound in the statement, it still strikes me odd that they couldn’t have been more forthcoming from the beginning. So perhaps there’s still stuff we don’t know and maybe never will. I’ve never seen something like this handled in such a cryptic way. To me, that means there was/is more to this. Unless the guy sharted himself at a fancy restaurant in Manhattan and ended up in the hospital over it, there’s no need to be vague. Again, I’ve never seen something like this before. If it was a normal situation, it would’ve sounded something like “I lost my voice” or “I strained my vocal cords and must rest”.

I agree. Definitely more to it. The vagueness regarding the injury says a lot.Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 6:14 amConsidering how innocuous Perry makes it sound in the statement, it still strikes me odd that they couldn’t have been more forthcoming from the beginning. There’s something I don’t like about Josh Klinghoffer; I can’t quite put my finger in it. He’s kind of bland. Of course, not Chris Chaney bland, but still. He has a vibe that he lived in his bedroom for years and practiced around the clock, making him a great guitar player. But in front of an audience, he doesn’t emote that “it” factor. He has very little charisma and makes little effort to engage an audience…like he’s still performing in his bedroom. There’s an “I’m too good/cool for all of you” aloofness about him or something.
I’d love to see more Daniel Ash appearances.

Great guitar player but gives off a '90s alt-rock fanboy vibe. It's like he's aping his heroes.Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 6:55 amThere’s something I don’t like about Josh Klinghoffer; I can’t quite put my finger in it. He’s kind of bland. I don’t know that I’ve ever heard him play anything interesting, but I’m not about to sift through late-era RHCP albums to find out.Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 6:55 amThere’s something I don’t like about Josh Klinghoffer; I can’t quite put my finger in it. I did the work; it was a tedious struggle. His presence was serviceable, albeit unremarkable.CaseyContrarian wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 7:59 am

And to think, people used to have the nerve to shit on Dave for One Hot Minute. Even if the album wasn’t for Frusciante/Slovak worshippers, it was at least something distinct and original.
Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
I think the vast majority of RHCP fans (not the hardcore) want the Californication/By The Way sound/aesthetic and basically Josh is/was able to deliver on that satisfactorily.

It's their 2nd best album in my opinion.Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:12 amI did the work; it was a tedious struggle. His presence was serviceable, albeit unremarkable.CaseyContrarian wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 7:59 am

Hope this isn’t the start of the goodwill between him and Perry going south.

I like him and think he has a really cool story. Who else can say he’s played with RHCP, Pearl Jam, Janes, Beck etc?Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 6:55 amThere’s something I don’t like about Josh Klinghoffer; I can’t quite put my finger in it. I’m not big on his latest solo stuff but I like Dot Hacker and I think some of the songs he did with RHCP flat out beat some Frusciante songs.
I think he could play mountain song and Jane says and not step on Troy’s shoes or anything
Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
Yeah, love OHM too !Tyler Durden wrote: ↑Tue Oct 25, 2022 8:41 amI hear you. I loved it. I definitely could have gone for a few more RHCP albums with Dave.
It's the last album of theirs I listen to. Come to think of it I only listen to BSSM and OHM anymore. Even Mother´s Milk has been ages even though I also love that album
Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
Josh is a monster musician....but when he played with Pearl Jam he's banging on a tambourine in back or playing some timpani or adding some vox....I didn't get the point of that. If he wasn't there would anyone notice a change in sound?
He loves "Purple Rain" and PJ covered at the Garden....I just feel that song is better off left untouched.

Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
In interviews lately he’s seems ( justifiably?) bitter about RHCP thing
He’s an interesting guy, I love his contributions to Fruscinates solo stuff
Pearl Jam gig was weird — felt like a conciliation prize for being fired from Peppers
He did kill it on a three days though

Our Lady Peace doing Mountain Song last night.
Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
sorta messed that one up.
good try though

Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
My impression was that Raine had a cold or allergies or something. The bass levels were WAY off for their entire set. He had ZERO high end, and couldn't even manage his own songs without literally just not singing notes he's known for. He also seemed extremely lethargic on stage -- maybe jitters from having to fill in on such short notice in a stadium full of JA / Pumpkins fans.

Tickemasterbators gave me a full refund! Seems as though you had the magic text.Lokus wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 7:46 pmThanks for this. I followed the same path, and the real person responded that refunds were not available. Hopefully, she/he/they will see your comments and tell you how they got the refund.LifeIsLoud wrote: ↑Mon Oct 24, 2022 3:24 pmTicketmaster is giving me a refund for the Toronto show.
She :) I answered all the bot's question on ticketmaster's site, and then it asked "Did I answer your question?" I said no.
It then invited an agent. I told them "the name of the tour has changed. I did not buy ticket to "The Smashing Pumpkins" Spirits On Fire Tour", I bought tickets to "The Smashing Pumpkins + Jane's Addiction: Spirits On Fire Tour" I would like a refund. The product has been changed. I would like this escalated to a supervisor please." And then they told me I am now getting a refund.
I'm still out $282 for a hotel room though. But the $1,100 for the tickets is nice to have back (can't believe I paid that much when they first went on sale, especially since they are so much cheaper now...the show is only about 60-70% sold).
Re: Official Spirits On Fire tour thread
$1100 wow
