This one always gets me. It's from an old Kraft Music Hall radio recording. I liked the story since I was a kid, but I don't even think I understood it until I was a little older. What might really get me is that I know the (sometimes patchy) story of Wenceslaus I, Duke of Bohemia, (c. 907 – September 28, 935) and his page, Podevin, both of whom feature prominently in this song. The title of "King" was bestowed posthumously, not to mention "Saint."
Rosemary Clooney (that's George Clooney's aunt) sings the role of the young Podevin, which I didn't know for years, because the CD I have of old radio shows offered no such information.
