So why was 2015 finally the year for Game of Thrones? Well, first of all, its main competitors in the past—Breaking Bad, Homeland, and Mad Men—were either out of the running or had their day another year. But also, with the recent change in Emmy voter makeup from the elite Blue Ribbon panels of the past to a wider voting body, 2015 is the year the Emmy Awards went from quasi-populist choices to downright popular choice. And when it comes to prestige drama, you can’t be more popular than Game of Thrones. Now with 12 wins in one year, Game of Thrones can add awards-show favorite to its growing list of accomplishments.

WTF with the pussy redo of the Chris Isaak tune as the backing music? IMO, any GoT promo should have Iron Maiden blasting at 11.

The weak cover of a truly great Chris Isaak tune was a weird choice.

They build this show up so much, and you have to wait so long between seasons, and then it's ten quick episodes and poof! It's gone.

I agree with Pande on the song. I still look forward to it every year and this is the first season no one knows anything about the plot line (no accidental spoilers from me). What made me happy about this trailer is that it looks like no dumb shit from Dorne will happen this season. I was very disappointed with the Sand Snakes.

Fuck, just realized I'm going to miss the first episode (ok, I'm going to watch it luckily a day or two afterwards). Please no spoilers...
And 9 days left...

good episode. nothing really surprising happened.

last night a friend suggested that i watch the show with the captions on. that was the best suggestion ever. i understood exactly what was going on.

my only complaint is one i have had before. it's filmed too dark. i still have daylight here and with the glare of my window it makes it really hard to see some of the scenes. :noclue:

I have the same complaint. Even when I close everything, it's still much too bright out and that makes it difficult to watch at times.

I'm not sure what the hell to make of that final scene. I did see that clear enough to know what was going on :yikes:

Awesome episode...I love that it's dark, since the dark is full of terrors  I was like of course Melisandre has to get naked but omg :yikes:
My parents have a non glare tv screen that works fine during dark scenes at daylight. I'm getting one when I have money.

Is it just me, or was that episode REALLY short?

So, is Melisandra giving her life to bring back Jon Snow? I think this episode did a great job setting up the season. I bet next week is about Bran and they keep the Jon Snow mystery going into episode 3.

It felt the same to me, I think the recap at the start killed some of that time cause the eps are usually 50-ish or more minutes and with that recap it was like 40-45 mins I think. But there are supposed to be 13 eps this season so maybe that is part of it?

they tend to run 50-60 minutes (the final episodes a touch longer) this one was 50 and next weeks is 54...so ya what juana said the recap made it feel short

Got to say, i thought it was boring... crap even. I watched it on catch-up and fast forwarded some of the bits. To be honest though, i'm only really in it for the white walkers.
