Recommend me some bands at a festival

#1 Post by Mescal » Tue Jun 27, 2017 1:06 am

Ok, so as a yearly tradition I'm going to the rock werchter festival.

It had me face the fact that I'm getting really old since I only know like 3 bands at the festival.

I'll be there for 4 days, so might as well go listen to some good music.

Any bands you guys can recommend me?

On Friday, you could catch Maggie Rogers, she has some cool stuff. I think her life changed after trying MDMA, and her music sort of reflects that. I'm also assuming you'll see Radiohead, who have just released new/old material.

On Saturday, maybe Passenger? My wife likes them/him and what I've heard has been at least decent. Tash Sultana can be, at times, out of this world. You have to see her.

For Sunday... The Lumineers can be alright.

Enjoy! Hopefully there won't be any incidents this time.

Do. Not. Miss. Savages.

Arcade Fire is worth seeing, but the direction they've been going with the last album and the new one about to be released is really disappointing. Radiohead of course is a must see. Pretenders have great songs but they are kinda boring live. Chrissy looks like Stiv Bators in that photo btw.

Prophets of Rage : From my friends who went to Download they are the dogs cojones.

Royal Blood : These were GREAT at Glastonbury. Very QOTSA in parts but excellent nonetheless.

Radiohead : And take some rope or razor blades for anyone who forgot them.

Savages : Check

The Petenders : For the LULZ

Hope to see the Prophets Of Rage ... But they play pretty early the first day ... so I hope I can make it.

I saw Royal Blood two years ago. Though I like the songs they had on the radio, wasn't really a fan of the live show. But will check em again.

Saw the Pretenders last week, can't really say I like them. And Chrissie is heavily botoxed.

And will check the Savages, can't say I know them

Oh yeah, I will check Radiohead again, and even though I think Paranoid Android is our generations Stairway to Heaven (meaning a timeless song), I just can't really get into them

You know Tamino? That's pretty recent Belgian music?

Is Tash Sultana just a girl solo with her guitar?

Also heard pretty good things about Arcade fire as a live band ... Can't say I like their songs on the radio though ...

Thanks for the other tips ...

I just heard of Tamino about a week or so ago. It was from a new music recommendation from a UK newspaper(Guardian, I think) that had an interview with him. I like him, not sure if it is your cup of tea.

Tash is solo artist with guitar and looping machine. I'm seeing her in September. She has a great voice.

This shit destroys me a little bit. I find it so beautiful.

She starts singing around 2:30, if you're a bit impatient.
