How is this different than the "now playing" thread
Re: What new(can be old band ) music are you digging
Since 3 is the magic number, I'll post 3 from what I've been listening to lately.

Re: What new(can be old band ) music are you digging
caught this during the live stream last weekend while I was waiting around PDX for my flight home.

An acquaintance from the Kate Bush fan club I belong to is a musician and recently released this song. I think this is a fantastic debut tune. It's starting to get airplay on some Canadian radio stations.
Re: What new(can be old band ) music are you digging
the only new stuff I can think of that I love is the Claypool Lennon delirium

Re: What new(can be old band ) music are you digging
A couple of good tunes I heard recently...
This one sort of reminds me of Tones On Tail

I've ONLY just discovered Ghost.
Woah.
Totally loving them. What I found really interesting with their album Meliora is all the subtle influences I heard spanning a number of bands over a number of decades. Blue Oyster Cult, Velvet Revolver, Sabbath, Maiden, Slayer, The Damned etc...

A fresh discovery for me...
Don't know much about this musician. Her voice is unique...me gusta. She's playing a small venue in Toronto in June..tix only $10.

I'll never get how to post clips all fancy. This is an old band that was new to me decades after they existed.

Weirdly, I'm kind of rediscovering The Beatles thanks to a recent purchase of a late 70's European "Blue Box" audiophile vinyl collection of all their albums in near mint condition. Although I long ago bought the Beatles stereo cd box with all their albums, I pretty much ripped my favorite tracks to my pc/ipod and never listened to full albums. Coupled with a recent purchase of a new turntable, I've been listening to one or two records per night this week in chronological order. Previously, I was never much of a fan of their pre-Revolver era but for whatever reasons, I'm really digging their early stuff.

It's not for everybody, but I dig it a lot
I suppose it could be something to play if you want your company to leave the house

I just discovered, last week, that I love Paranoid by Black Sabbath.

indie/post-punk/prog with some horns thrown in? That's how I'd describe it, but maybe I suck at descriptions:
Any Alt-J fans? The couple promotional singles they've released have been great. Love the artwork, love the vibe. Also didn't realize anybody still makes music videos that clearly have a sizable budget:
I know I'm late to the game on this one. I had never listened to the album until a couple weeks ago when I randomly listened to it cover to cover, it's really great. I don't know what it is about this song in particular, but I'm blown away by it.
A fun cover for a summertime playlist:
Another fun cover (I guess this is from 1979? I had never heard it before a few days ago):

They play them a lot on KCRW. Love them.kv wrote:
Not my type of music, but I've always been fascinated by their persona and stage show. Maybe it's because I was raised catholic? I like their cover of "here comes the sun"Bandit72 wrote:I've ONLY just discovered Ghost.

I like the new Chelsea Wolfe song.

I prefer this version. It's the singer and drummer from The Dandy Warhols. It's basically exactly what you'd expect them to do with it.sinep wrote:
