I went Friday night. I go about every other year and it's a lot of fun. I give the organizers a lot of credit, I got to the Pasadena Civic about 10 minutes before the doors opened at 6pm and the line was probably about 3,000+ people and wrapped around the block but it only took about 10-15 minutes to get in. A freak watchers paradise, lot's of goth chicks, lot's of weirdos dressed as various horror movie characters, many in super elaborate costumes.

I hate when companies do this. I've seen shit like Used-Car-Palooza. There was this local shitty music promoter in Ohio that rented out a local fairground stage and had Rockapalooza with a bunch of shit bands like Puddle of Mudd.
I just don't get it. I would never go to something that just randomly threw "palooza" on the event name.
Re: lollapalooza 17
I notice the band names are no longer put in different sizes or subtexts. Kind of speaks to the fact that there aren't any monster bands. I mean there are, but lolla probably isn't the place to see them. I hate festivals anymore. Last one I went to was here, in Osaka. Hot as fuck. Blisters on my feet. $6 water. Dust in my lungs. Not one good viewpoint. I'm done with it.

Pretty soon Perry might have to rename it Lollapaloozapalooza
Re: lollapalooza 17
Not like perry made it up...Just an apt descriptive word...i see why others use it
Re: lollapalooza 17
No he didn't invent the word but he definitely put it on the map back in 1991. No one would be using that term for everything the past 25 years if it wasnt for Perry.
Re: lollapalooza 17
Yeah, we'd still be talking about the US festival.

I'm not even sure Perry came up with the name originally. I think he credits a manager in some past video.

fuuuuuuck.... what year was it that we all went and hung out????? 2005???
That was over a decade ago....
This destination festival has been around longer, and is more iconic than the original lollapalooza.
what happened???????????

Re: lollapalooza 17
Yeah, I would rather go to Grant Park in Chicago than... the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg, Texas.
Re: lollapalooza 17
I saw PJ in 92 at the Show. They were amazing. They opened the show and no one came close to measuring up.
Re: lollapalooza 17
I've corrected you before on this...but Lush opened....plus ministry, Soundgarden and porno were pretty fucking great too...and the temple of the dog mini set...Jesus Christ that's so long ago now

Re: lollapalooza 17

The tour poster is the correct stage lineup and it says lush first...As I remember it was lush, pj then temple of the dog mini set

Re: lollapalooza 17
Eddie gets a little out of control at the end of this....Palladium, rage against the machine opened...PJ blew up between when I'd bought tickets and the show happened...I had thought the show would be cancelled for a larger venue...They played SNL like a week later...Props to them for playing instead of making more money elsewhere
Re: lollapalooza 17
yes. It was. I could be wrong. My soon to be wife was at the restroom when they went on; I was freaking out that they started without her there. It was daylight stillkv wrote:I've corrected you before on this...but Lush opened....plus ministry, Soundgarden and porno were pretty fucking great too...and the temple of the dog mini set...Jesus Christ that's so long ago now
