Jack White's booking agency William Morris Endeavor Entertainment has banned its acts from performing at the University of Oklahoma after the student-run newspaper published White's contract to play a campus show, as The Oklahoma Daily reports (via Consequence of Sound).
On Monday, February 2, White performed at OU's McCasland Field House. The day before, The Oklahoma Daily printed White's contract http://tinyurl.com/q56ebl3 to perform the show—which included $80,000 in compensation. That contract included his tour rider, which made a number of stipulations, including a long, specific guacamole recipe to be served backstage.
The rider also included a number of other interesting policies, including a desire to avoid bananas—"This is a NO BANANA TOUR. (Seriously.) We don’t want to see bananas anywhere in the building"—and a post-show meal of "New York strip steak, cooked medium, with steamed vegetables on the side and no sauce."
During the show, White trashed the paper for printing the contract, saying "Just because you can type it on your computer doesn't make it right."
According to The Oklahoma Daily, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment "said they won’t book anymore bands or other talents to come to OU because the article mocked Jack White and they don’t want any other artists treated that way." The paper defended its decision to post the contract, saying "His contract wasn’t something we leaked. It is public information that any of you could request." They added, "We reported the costs so students could see how their money was being spent, who was spending and on whom it was spent."
White himself was not involved in WME's decision.
Correction: An earlier verison of this story indicated that WME is White's management company. They are his booking agency.

He seems like such a douchbag. wasnt there a letter from a couple years ago about how he didn't want his kids to be on the same baseball team or go to camp with the kids of one of the guys from the black keys?

What in that open letter makes him seem like a douchbag?sinep wrote:He seems like such a douchbag.
Played it pretty well if you ask me
Re: Jack White-"This is a NO BANANA TOUR" Clause
His ex wife blew him up during the divorce about not wanting his kids in the same school as the Black Keys guys kids. Apparently the Black Keys guy recently moved to the same town and was planning on sending his kid to the same private school. Jack White didn't want a guy who blatantly ripped him off in his circle. I agree, fuck the Black Keys retro rock duo and fuck this silly college paper trying to create some false bullshit story.

And fuck Jack White too. I saw him the night after his hissy fit in NY when he played for a half hour. He countried up any White Stripes song he played....snoozefest

I have loved a lot of Jack's music, but he seems like a questionable human. I mean... the dude was so full of himself he thought he could make good music with Insane Clown Posse and that his loyal fans would eat that shit up. That's pretty much the moment I stopped following his music. I didn't care for the Raconteurs, and his solo work has been mostly the same old shit, but without the energy.
