It was very weird to wake up to this this morning. I've seen The Cure all over the world, but can't quire fathom a festival in wine country. Roll on 30th May. And here's hoping for more US dates....

I have never seen The Cure. It's a regret actually. What is unfathomable about a wine country festival. This one has Heart in addition to these 2 headliners. Seems they are going for an older customer base, one with money and a more sophisticated palate, but some of the press I read shared your concerns. :noclue:

... I've seen them 3 times... amazing every time. 3+ hour long shows. Robert Smith is a far better guitarist than you'd think... etc.

Never heard anything bad about them. I have the 'bestival' live album and the band is REALLY stripped down, and I still love them.

You should come up

I struggle with NorCal festivals. The few I have been to have been horrible, so I am casting aspersions based on that—well, that and photos from last year's festival. I grew up going to Glastonbury, Reading, and Lollapalooza. Festivals where you would run around from stage to stage to catch who you wanted to see. Outside Lands and seemingly this have a different vibe. People plop down with their deck chairs and stake their turf for the day. It's just a very different experience. It seems less about the music and more about 'a day out'. And that same customer base (with money and a more sophisticated palate) makes for a great obstacle course when you want to try and make it close to the front to see one of your favourite bands....

They deliver though, still—for me, Fat Bob is as good live as he was the first time I saw them aeons ago. I would highly recommend seeing them at some point.

Killing An Arab.
Is this the first time in decades that they've played this song in it's original form (if that's how it was played)?

BTW, that's an outstanding setlist. I'd rather see and hear something like that versus the trilogy of albums they are going to be playing during the Summer tour.

I am VERY jealous that your wife got a ticket to see Kate Bush.

I came close. On the day of the sale I got a single seat on Sept 27, Row F in the stalls, but then when I proceeded to book it,Ticket Master froze and I lost the seat. :nyrexall:

Seriously, if you have friends who end with an extra ticket for any of the shows, I will buy it. I would need a little notice as I would have to book a flight.
