New one from the Die Antwoord. Basically a remix of an old Aphex Twin tune and the video has cameos from Flea, Jack Black, Marilyn Manson, Carla Whatserface (the model) and the dude in blackface and the afro wig is (allegedly) Richard D. James himself.

This is a documentary of a local punk rock club that was basically the West Coast's alternative to CBGBs. The place was just inland of Newport Beach in Costa Mesa and I saw a few bands there including Fear and probably TSOL (most I couldn't remember the next day as we usually got blitzkrieged and didn't really give a shit who was playing) in '80 - '81 when the Orange County punk scene was blossoming. At the time, I remember hearing and reading a lot about the "cowboys" vs punks think between the Zubie's and CN crowd when my friends and I went there but aside from a couple cars being vandalized and cops hanging out along the street looking to bust drunks, I never saw firsthand any of the kind of mayhem that made the place so notorious. I do remember we always made it a point *not* to park in the lot, always a block or so down the street to avoid our car getting screwed with. We'd go to Zubies around 6pm, eat a cheap BBQ steak dinner and pound a few beers and stroll across the small parking lot to the Cuckoo's Nest to catch whoever might be playing on any given night. Because we weren't typical punkers, more long hair surfer/metalhead guys, we were able to move between both places with little hassle from the hillbilly or punker crowd.

Never knew this doc existed but man, those were some fun times.

If anyone likes hip hop and hasn't listened to Run the Jewels 2, they should. Haven't been able to stop listening for a week. I think it's even better than their first.

Hadn't listened to this in at least 10 years. I remember Oxygene 2 from the Atari, and my father had the cassette (no idea why.) It used to scare me when I was little (6-9), but it's just fantastic.

I can't believe I impulsively spent over $200 on vinyl records today at the Hollywood Amoeba Records, most on albums I already have on cd (and in one case on original vinyl release).

This is a surprisingly catchy song, probably the first MM tune I've liked since Heart Shaped Glasses:

That's a great show, although Jaz's appearance that tour was kind of shocking in that he'd put on so much weight and was apparently drinking a lot. I saw the LA (El Ray Theater) show about 2 weeks after this gig and it was the first time I'd seen Killing Joke since about '86 or '86 and it was such a badass show. I only wish they'd played "Loose Cannon" but they had dropped that early in the tour and subbed "Follow The Leaders" in it's place which was a good trade if it had to be done.

I decided to finally acquire "Killing Joke Singles Collection 1979-2012" and wow!!! There are some great deep cuts on this, and remixes and B-Sides. I had heard that this release just rehashed everything that has been released already and not worth getting, but I wasn't aware of about 1/4 of it which is totally amazing stuff.

The only thing I wish it had was Penny Drop.

The 3rd CD (you *did* get the 3CD version, right?!?) has a lot of great unreleased cuts and B-sides. "Sixth Sun" is better'n about half the tracks that made it on the Absolute Dissent album.

Yea, I got the three albums, and the third is definitely the best and makes the set worth it. Sixth Sun is probably my favorite track, along with Zennon.

The mixing for this release it amazing. Everything POPS!

It's low and gritty but still totally has that full bodied wave of sound and Jaz's vox is always harmonizing perfectly on top. I don't think I have ever listened to anything that has been this full before. Bass, drums, Geordie, keyboards you can pick out like all their own tracks, yet they come together like clockwork. Amazing!
