Watch about every R&R doc I can find and fell upon one on the Foo Fighters last night...and though I don't like but one of their songs I really like their approach to music, so I went back to some of my heroes in the "purist" musical ideology again (what tech allowed  ). Again, maybe a few of you will know this tune but Steve Winwood was a bit of a child prodigy starting the Spencer Davis Group in his mid teens (he wrote Gimme Some Lovin, which most of you likely know). Prior to that he supported Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy if memory serves and other legends....went on to play with Dave Mason and Clapton and others.....musicians musician.

Steve Winwood, yeah, he's the genius.

He also wrote this :

Yep! I remember seeing them in London circa 2002, supporting The Wildhearts. They weren't famous yet but my friend Chaz was rolling on the floor laughing Peppa Pig style due to the bass players moustache, tight jeans and bandana combo.

here are the lyrics:

We're gonna blow people's fucking heads off
Ooh, they're gonna shit themselves
Crying out for more
Caution, wet floor
This one's going out to the fans
Hell bent for denim and leather
Notoriety and wealth
After the show
I think we both know
This fist ain't gonna bump itself

We are legends
With a power that you can't deny
We're immortal
'Cause these songs will never die

And we're never gonna stop
Shitting out solid gold
And we're never gonna stop
Shitting out solid gold

There's a guy coming down from Sony
Artist an' repertoire
If he likes what he hears in those stupid ears
I'll buy myself a faster car
He's blowing smoke up our asses
Everything we do is ace
He wants to wine and dine us, desperate to sign us
'Cause we melted his fuckin' face

We are legends
With a power that you can't deny
We're immortal
'Cause these songs will never die

And we're never gonna stop
Shitting out solid gold
And we're never gonna stop
Shitting out solid gold

Stone cold foxes screaming in the front row
Sacred promise of fellatio
Soul, it can be sold
Low and behold
Behold!

And we're never gonna stop
Shitting out solid gold
And we're never gonna stop
Shitting out solid gold

And we're never gonna stop
Shitting out solid gold
And we're never gonna stop
Shitting out solid gold, yeah

The lyrics are funny though.

Saw em live once, right after the I believe in this thing hit

Wasn't really that impressed

I saw them when they were touring their debut album, it was a fun show but nothing seriously memorable. When it comes to low brow parody-type rock, Steel Panther is the best:

They sound like a parody of Kim Mitchell / Alice Cooper-style soft-cock-rock... But I do love the self-aware insanity of I Believe in a Thing Called Love. :lolol:

Finally had some time to listen to some of my recent purchases... Wolf Alice's "Visions Of A Life" may be my favorite album of 2017.

In celebration of 6 of the classic 7 members reuniting (something I've been wishing for since I was around 12)...

Man, I only found this version a couple of days ago. What a tune this is.

I never saw them live... :nyrexall:

Heh, my friends and I were baking in the smoggy sun that day right next to the twin umbrellas in front of the mixing desk for Judas Priest' set. The '83 US Festival remains the most miserable, yet fun multi-day concert I ever attended.

I've seen Judas Priest 3 times - US Festival in '83, '84 Defenders Of The Faith tour and in 2005 both in Long Beach. All good shows (although Halford had major back issues in '05 and barely moved around). For some reason, I thought I saw them at Irvine Meadows on the Turbo tour around '86 but I don't have a ticket stub for that tour. I'm thinking about seeing them one last time when they play LA on the 22nd if they release more pit tickets.

Were you there for the whole festival? I'm sure I read on wiki it was one day of Heavy Metal and the other 3 of other pop/run of the mill stuff?
