Re: Now Playing...
I first heard of Savages earlier this year when I watched the so-so sci-fi movie "Ex Machina" and their song Husbands played over the credits. They have a Bauhaus/Christian Death sound that I really like and I'm looking forward to the new LP next month.
Re: Now Playing...
That singer is a pretty good early Perry Farrell/Siouxsie thingy.
Re: Now Playing...
she sound exactly like siouxsie a lot of the time.......don't know what to think about that...maybe it's a bit too much or maybe it's all right, still a cool band no matter what

T.G. (audience video) version of this http://www.cure-concerts.de/concerts/1992-10-08.php
It's pretty good for a handycam from 1992

Re: Now Playing...
i think it's all right. i think she sounds less like Siouxsie on the live stuff. She also sounds a little bit like PJ Harvey to me. The band is made up of some very skilled musicians, imo.Matz wrote:she sound exactly like siouxsie a lot of the time.......don't know what to think about that...maybe it's a bit too much or maybe it's all right, still a cool band no matter what
The singer, Jenny Beth, looks a little bit like klaus Nomi in some pictures,

Re: Now Playing...
just listened to Blackstar a little bit, not blown away, my initial impression is that The Next Day is a lot better, catchier more melodic, but maybe it's a grower....
Re: Now Playing...
Playing Blackstar, and I think it's incredible. That last song is so perfect. Brilliant album.

Re: Now Playing...
it's weird, I didn't like Next Day a lot but this album resonates with me more than anything he's done since maybe Heathen or Outside.Matz wrote:just listened to Blackstar a little bit, not blown away, my initial impression is that The Next Day is a lot better, catchier more melodic, but maybe it's a grower....
Re: Now Playing...
Outside is my favorite Bowie album and one of my all time favorite albums, stunning songwriting, sound design, playing etc.
But he had one hell of a team then too: Mike Garson, Gail Ann Dorsey, Reeves Gabrels, Brian Eno, one cool drummer and himself......that's a fuckin line up

Re: Now Playing...
I've relapsed recently into 80's synth. Love it.
Re: Now Playing...
that's from the 90's...i saw them that tour at dodger stadium...one of the very few times i ever went to a stadium show...never forget they took the stage and lightning hit behind the stage and the entire mass of people lost their minds...was electric... i appologize
Re: Now Playing...
Haven't listened to this album for a long time...still sounds great!
Re: Now Playing...
Only discovered this band yesterday. I quite like them.

Re: Now Playing...
I have no problem watching YouTube clips on this site either on my Windows PC (Firefox, fucked up though it is), iPad or Android phone. Like KV said in the other thread, some of you must be experiencing some sort of recent browser update.Hype wrote:All youtube links are showing up as black vertical rectangles now...
Re: Now Playing...
I loved this album. They had so much potential during such a shitty time in music, and went nowhere. Their sophomore album was just okay.Artemis wrote:Haven't listened to this album for a long time...still sounds great!
Re: Now Playing...
Agree. Fortunately, I did get to see them one time at the Mod Club. The floor was heaving...great show!Hype wrote:I loved this album. This is a pretty good rant.
