I agree with this guy that the slip is way better than hesitation marks, it's a really good album

I don't agree anymore. I've given HM about ten spins or so since I wrote that and it has grown on me quite a bit. It's actually a very solid album with lots of variety and cool things and interesting sounds and synths and drums etc. Definitely the coolest thing that's come out this year in my book.

I wonder if I'll ever learn not to rush to judgment about these things, I mean giving my opinion after 1-2 spins. My guess is..ehm, no, I wont cause this aint the first time I step in this trap  :scared:

I like Hesitation Marks. 8/10. Some very good songs on it, like:

I Would For You
Various Methods of Escape
Satellite
Copy of A
Came Back Haunted (yep, it's pretty great actually)
All Time Low

Even "Everything" has grown on me. Really didn't care for that song at all, but now I think it's fun. I didn't originally like "Came Back Haunted" either, but now it's a golden NIN single to me.

Ok I saw the show tonight and it was amazing. This is my 5th time seeing NIN (6th time seeing a Trent production cause I saw HDTA) and the visuals and light show was hands down the best he's done (since 2006 atleast). it was INCREDIBLE. The amount of work he must do in setting up the lights alone...

So yeah, it was impressive as he has made it out to be. Just incredible.

New songs sounded great live, especially Satellite, All Time Low, and Disappointed.

Best songs overall was the back to back of Somewhat Damaged and Wish. Just straight up perfection.

And this was the first time some asshole near me didn't ruin Hurt by talking or yelling.

Also interestingly, Trent had two women back up singers on stage for most of the night. They sang a lot of the background parts on the new songs and added some cool primal screams at other points (such as in Even Deeper). Unlike Etty, they actually contributed in making the songs richer. And it was not a reflection of him sounding weaker or anything. I think it was just to add depth and he's trying something different. Trent actually sounded really strong. Band was super tight.

Just wow, still the best live show imo.

As soon as Trent said "hey" the first time I thought of Hoka and I counted how many times he said it and it was only 9 times over a two hour show so I'll take it!

I'm a happy lady

Set:

Copy of A
1,000,000
Terrible Lie
March of the Pigs
Piggy
All Time Low
Disappointed
Came Back Haunted
Find My Way
The Frail
The Wretched
Satellite
In Two
Survivalism
Running
A Warm Place
Somewhat Damaged
Wish
Burn
The Hand That Feeds
Head Like a Hole

Encore:
The Day the World Went Away
Even Deeper
While I'm Still Here
Black Noise
Hurt

Glad you got a great show. I wish Trent would keep "I Would For You" in the set, it's one of the best songs off the new album and I think it's only been played once since the tour began. They're playing the massive Staples Arena here in LA soon and that will probably keep me from seeing this tour unless he plays somewhere else locally later in the tour.

If you can get cheap tickets i would go for the lights/visuals alone, I really would.

Last night got me thinking of the Wave Goodbye show I saw at Terminal 5. That set was amazing. Not sure he could ever top this set for me:

1. Home
2. Terrible Lie
3. The Beginning of the End
4. Discipline
5. March of the Pigs
6. The Line Begins To Blur
7. I'm Afraid Of Americans (David Bowie cover)
8. Ruiner
9. The Big Come Down
10. Burn
11. Gave Up
12. La Mer
13. The Fragile
14. Non-Entity
15. Eraser
16. The Way Out Is Through
17. 1,000,000
18. Letting You
19. Survivalism
20. Reptile (with Peter Murphy)
21. Kick In The Eye (Bauhaus cover) (with Peter Murphy)
22. The Hand That Feeds
23. Head Like a Hole

Encore:
24. The Frail
25. The Wretched
26. The Day The World Went Away
27. Dead Souls (with Peter Murphy)
28. Wish
29. Hurt

I've heard TONS of amazing feedback about this tour. Still think the album is just OK, though.

That's better'n anything on the last album. Plus it inadvertently brings up a key failing of later-day NIN in general - that if Reznor could inject some humor into a few songs here and there, it would break up the tedious creative rut he's fallen into.

Truth. And yet it still manages to sound like every fucking song he's written since The Fragile.

there are not many weird al songs that don't top the originals .. i revisited al with my son a few years ago and weird al cracks me up more now than back when "eat it" came out .. i'd even rather listen to als horrible nasal voice than trents horrible nasal voice anyday .. trent takes himself to seriously for the pop hack he really is

This is exactly why I stopped coming to this board; the cynicism and misery here is unbelievable.

Didn't you and/or Creep institute some sort of Amnesty program for wayward banned ones in December?
