The origin of Three Days and Classic Girl?
The origin of Three Days and Classic Girl?
Think about it.
Re: The origin of Three Days and Classic Girl?
Classic girl yeah definitely, Three days? in what part of that song are you getting that vibe?
Re: The origin of Three Days and Classic Girl?
There are a couple of repetitive riffs throughout the song that are just like the riffs in Three Days. Try from 0:40 seconds in. Around a minute it sounds like the part with "night is shelter for nudity's shiver". This gets repeated again around 1:26.Matz wrote:Classic girl yeah definitely, Three days? in what part of that song are you getting that vibe?

I think I know what you mean. But it is much less obvious than with the Classic girl thing. I think it's safe to say that that song would not have existed had it not been for this Bauhaus intro.
On a related note what was the band that they pretty much stole the Oceansize main riff from? I'd like to hear that again. anyone know?
anyway, Bauhaus seem like a cool band, I don't know them very well but hearing this has made me want to check out their catalogue.

not that one. It's a band from around the same time as Jane's and an LA band too I think. The riffs are pretty much identical. someone here must know who I'm talking about

Any number of mid-80's Iron Maiden tunes, no doubt.Matz wrote:not that one. It's a band from around the same time as Jane's and an LA band too I think. The riffs are pretty much identical. someone here must know who I'm talking about

This always reminds me of Oceansize (riff starts at 1:15), also Bauhaus relatedMatz wrote:not that one. It's a band from around the same time as Jane's and an LA band too I think. The riffs are pretty much identical. someone here must know who I'm talking about
Re: The origin of Three Days and Classic Girl?
Sometimes I feel like JA and Bauhaus are basically just the same band either as punks or as goths.
Re: The origin of Three Days and Classic Girl?
it wasn't a big band like that, they'd have a hard time getting away with it if was. And it wasn't that style of music either. It was some underground thing, a Siouxsie and the banshees type band or something, from LA like I said I think.Pandemonium wrote:Any number of mid-80's Iron Maiden tunes, no doubt.Matz wrote:not that one. It was posted at Xiola maybe two years ago and the riff is the exact same only with a different vocal melody, but I have no idea of the name of the band. Pretty surprised no one knows this

Listen to the drums and the bassline.
Maybe you guys don't remember how Three Days goes.

Re: The origin of Three Days and Classic Girl?
I just don't find any resemblance to either one

THERE ARE NO DRUMS!Adurentibus Spina wrote:Listen to the drums and the bassline.
And the bassline is completely different. There is not a single note similar to Three Days.
Classic Girl, I can see it. The texture of the guitar, the sliding change of chords and the initial chord progression (I-IV, which however is extremely common, so I wouldn't consider it a point of similarity.)
Here what I think happened...
Hype wrote:Woah, this song starts just like Classic Girl. I mean... there's a guitar... and the guy sort of, you know, strums the guitar... Dave also strums the guitar in Classic Girl if I remember correctly... I bet Jane's Addiction based their entire catalog exclusively on this song, one way or another...
Re: The origin of Three Days and Classic Girl?
That's very good Larry. Maybe you can do a waveform comparison and prove it conclusively.
But then I'll just get drunk again and say something equally outrageous. Like: My Cat's Name is Maceo and Ocean Size are the same song.

Re: The origin of Three Days and Classic Girl?
I was thinking that...I might do it when I have some time off
Just need a file for the Bauhaus song and I'm all set

That, and the intro is exactly the same.Larry B. wrote:

Just as that Cream vs Ocean Size thing.
Not very original
