Went to see him yesterday without knowing anything about him (other than he's a jazz saxophone player.)
I though he sucked. Actually, I thought everything about his number sucked.
But I think he could do well in New York.
I did a quick search and found this video. He played this one last night.
Bass sucks? Check.
Guitar sucks? You betcha, although he had his moments.
Drums suck? Probably the worst of all the ingredients.
Sax sucks? Check. Besides, I could hardly hear him behind the infernal racket his band is.
It's without a doubt the most shamelessly white jazz band I've ever seen. There was no groove, ever. The bass and drums never worked together.
Pretty horrible. Avoid in the future.

Re: Yuri Honing
wow, what a mess!!
Re: Yuri Honing
Oh, I don't like him either. But since you started a negative thread about a white Dutch jazz musician I feel compelled to post some youtube videos of whitey's from the Dutch jazz scene. (Not all is jazz, but neither was your video.)
(this is such a nice song, the 2nd part is sooo sweet.)
(from a Werner Herzog soundtrack, here you have some deep emotion. 1 minute intro warning for the impatient.)
(this is 1 minute, especially kept short for television audience/the impatient.)
(awesome Radiohead cover. hats off, really well done.)

Re: Yuri Honing
That Herzog thing was pretty good, I wasn't that impressed with the rest
Are their any big jazz names in the Netherlands, either current or past? Yuri Honing was sort of sourced by the Dutch embassy in Chile for a jazz festival currently being held in a sourhern Chilean city, so thought "well, he must be somewhat reknown at least over there..."

Plenty of great/awesome players, but most of them aren't big names... that's how it usually works in the business.
If you liked the cello thing, maybe check out more of the same guy, he's a big name and is really good. Dude has a great solo early in this clip:
Here's a track of him with a percussionist I actually saw live near my house the other day.
