dead prez

#1 Post by Hype » Mon Aug 13, 2012 6:39 pm

Dead Prez, stylized as dead prez, is a hip hop duo from the United States, composed of stic.man and M-1, formed in 1996 in New York City. They are known for their confrontational style, combined with socialist lyrics focused on both militant social justice and Pan-Africanism. The duo maintains an ethical stance against corporate control over the media, especially hip hop record labels.

 I like these guys a lot.

They're really intelligent guys, for non-academics. I like that in a musician, because if you've also got innate musical talent, you can do weird things no one else thinks of easier... dead prez do that, I think.

Hey, I'm a white Canadian who listens mostly to really obscure out-of-key alt. rock... My knowledge of recent hip hop is limited, at best.

I will say that I think these guys are smarter than KRS-ONE... which says a lot, I think.

:bs: :essence:
A lotta dudes would not be around if not for KRS...Kris does say some CRAZY shit at times, but the beauty of a dude like him is that for me personally he's made me think outside the box for years...and any rap/hip hop artist that provokes thought is all good imo...

Well that's what I meant though... it's a huge compliment to be thought of as "smarter" than KRS. I just like them because they're socialist.
