Back when Perry & co. where brave enough to play a song LIVE with a long-ass intro, without a boring 2-4 snare hit, with two guitar solos and with an OBOE solo.

There was an oboe solo? I remember clarinet, but not oboe.

As for Pets, I'm with kv, although I never liked Pets very much, as opposed to Jane Says and BCS, which I actually enjoyed at one point.

I enjoyed the hell out of both P4P albums...always wished they'd have stuck around a little longer...imo very much underrated in their time...

Golly, I love Pets. I think it's elegant and charming. I like many better but the shine of success didn't ruin that ong for me. :noclue:

Best show I've ever seen was hands down P4P. Shoe box of a club. A few hundred heads just going nuts. When they played Mt Song I thought the building was going to come apart. I've never quite experienced anything like that since.

Yes! That was one of the best shows I've ever been to. I still get goosebumps when I think of Watt going into Summertime Rolls. I got to get in on a drum circle earlier in the day that Perkins was in on. It was at the opposite end of the field from where the stage was. I was two people over from him. Random dudes kept walking up to him and putting joints and bowls in his face. He'd ask each person "this is just weed, right?" Then he'd take a hit without missing a beat and scream out whoo! after each one. If I hadn't known already that he was the awesomest drummer then that solidified it. That whole day was amazing, the chick from Deelite was really good, the jazz bands during the day were cool, and P4P were amazing.

That was an excellent show. Got to meet Perry that day. He was out walking around talking to people.

Was this the 1st of 2 days at the San Francisco Lolla? I was at that one and only caught P4P's last song. My buddy and I were kicking back up at the top of the lawn heard other people going on about how Perry's "new band" was playing a surprise set on the 2nd stage so we rushed out to catch it but just caught the end of it from pretty far back. Yeah, it was pretty wild around that stage. Fun day, too bad the Chili Peppers bored the fuck outta us and we left during the encore.

That's awesome. I saw Perry walking around at some point that afternoon. I was going to say hello to him but when he got near me some drunk guys started yelling to him about how he should grow his dreads back. He kind of did a little swerve and changed direction. Oh well.

I saw PFP in Brisbane in 96 and whilst it was rad and I got Perry's set list it kinda bugged me that after saying "I don't want to be king of the ring-nosed dreads" and citing that as one of the reasons for ending Jane's he goes and incorporates JA songs in PFP shows. Reeks of riding on the coat tails of JA when saying he was done with it.

Yes I know HE didn't break them up but he did claim that at some stage.

There was a lot of rumblings from Perry's side back in 2004 that P4P was going to reunite. I dont believe it anymore, epecially now that Jane's has found their footing again in terms of being a business. He should have reformed P4P back when he did Satellite Party if he was going to do it, but I hope he never does. Let's leave at least one thing untarnished.

I like that Perry does a few PFP songs with Pete every summer at Lollapalooza, but that's really all he should do with it.

Jane's isn't going to ever be as credible as they once were, so he might as well just keep running with it. It's the cash cow and no matter how much he destroys it, they will still get their asses kissed for the first 2 WB albums.

Many moons ago Pete said there are songs he won't record because they are PFP songs. If that's true, and I have no reason to doubt it, I'd like to hear them. Problem1,990,000......who's on bass? I love Watt for many reasons, but Martyn was a huge factor in PFP. :thumb:
