Man i'm so bored at work right now... this thread is a god-send!

Bands that I've loved since 2000 (some probably mentioned already, so sorry for repeats);

The Music
Hot Chip
The Big Pink
The Strokes
The Libertines (although it quickly burned away)
The Low Anthem
Fleet Foxes
Bon Iver
Jose Gonzalez
Ben Howard
Death from Above
Caitlin Rose
YYY's
Pearly Gate Music
Grandaddy (before 2000??)
LCD Soundsystem
M83

I'm probbaly missing tons that i can't think of right now... the above all impressed me one way or the other though, whether it was via a live show or an actual record.

The polyrhythms in that My Sleeping Karma song are pretty cool. That name sucks though. "Sleeping Karma" would've been better. ("My" makes it sound all pretentious and shit). But I really like that song. This thread is impressively successful.

I can't describe how healthy it was for me to 'discover' that there was great music coming out in this time. Now, I usually judge a little those who say stuff like 'music died with Jimmy' or whatever. I don't need them to like any of these new acts, but failing to recognize that it's statistically impossible that there are no new musical acts able to comply with their music criteria is just irrational. Unless said criteria has nothing to do with music per se (e.g., 'it must've been recorded before 1983. anything beyond 1983 sucks balls.')

I liked October File's first album from 2007, "Holy Armour from the Jaws of God." Strangely, I couldn't find a YouTube video for the song Jaz Coleman guested on so I threw one together myself this afternoon. Lotsa apocalyptic, explodey stuff:

Not sure I like the nu-metal production, but it gets decent further in.

Someone could very easily slot in guitar and vox from Black Sabbath's "Paranoid" to that song.

Arctic Monkeys for sure. Incredibly fresh when they arrived. The following track is incredible. Matt Helders is one hell of a drumming talent.

In my desperate search for any music that wasn't complete garbage, I happened to come across this band. Um, well this is a new band from New Jersey.

Please re-read the first word on the title of this thread. And if you can, delete that awful abortion of a song. Thank you.

Well someone posted a vid from that god awful commercial trash Sleigh Bells who came out in 2008 according to my research, and another video on this thread from Santigold, who I think started in 2007.
