I happen to be off today, and when I got home from doing errands, I turned on the radio and heard the news. I felt really sad.

I think we're around the same age warped, so you will agree that her music was part of the soundtrack of our lives in the 70s.

In grade 5, I had a teacher who was really into disco. In our class we had a "listening centre" where the kids could listen to records on headphones if they completed their work early or as a reward for good work. Anyway, I remember listening to her music on the headphones and our teacher showing us disco dance steps to her music during our class parties.

Embarrassing as it is, my first record album was this:

she had a strange career--disco queen who didn't want to be, went 'mainstream', found jesus, then tried to come back w/new stuff but all anybody wanted was the old stuff 'cuz she hadn't sung it for years... and then cancer.

anyhow, just a reminder that we all get old and pass...

Not a fan of Disco but name a wedding you've been to where "Last Dance" wasn't the closing song. You may not of been a fan but her music was woven in our lives. Her songs also epitomized one of the more decadent sides of the late 70's. I hear "Love to love you baby" and have a vision of Studio 54

RIP
