Its weird, i would never think Id react this way to a celebrity dying, but I respected him so much not just for the music but for how he took a total 180 in the way he lived his life, stopping drinking, drugging, womanizing, and still doing his thing in a genre that not only glamorizes those types of behavior, but basically puts people down for the very things he changed into. He helped so many people, raised a ton of money for Tibet. Plus he rocked that gray hair!

Cue Dali shitting all over him now.

Trying to keep it all relative, i'm absolutely gutted by this news - so, so sad. What a man, what a band, what a legacy. They are far and away the coolest band ever and completely soundtracked my better skating days. Much love to the Beasties family.

Yeah shit like this lets me know how lucky I am, sucks for him as he was looking up for a while there but I guess it got into his lymphnodes and from there its a down hill battle :cona:

It's the same for me.

First time I heard them was in my 7th grade computers class. This kid Albert brought in Licensed to Ill and Mrs. Meyers let him play it while we did our classwork.

Seems like just yesterday.

Kicking myself over how many times I could have seen them, but passed it up for one reason or another. Just glad I did see them the 3 times that I did.

Respect MCA

When they didn't tour behind the last album and especially when Adam didn't make the HoF ceremony, it was pretty clear he was losing the battle. Fuck cancer.

I feel much the way you do. I stopped being interested in their music after Check Your Head, but would always read with interest anything he was doing because of that profound life change he took. And he did rock the grey hair. By the way, Something's Got to Give from Check Your Head is my favorite song of theirs.

Ill communication is great as well, I also like In sounds from way out a lot. All in all they have a very impressive body of work, their place in the hall is well deserved

Actually I liked him a lot, as well as the rest of the Beasties. I never really knew anything about his personal life nor really cared to but I thought he was a helluva rapper as well as the rest of the Beasties.

High Plains Drifter, Sabatoge and Root Down just rock.

Now to appease your morbid view of me I will say, list that rare Beastie's shit on ebay tonight and "cash in now" (someone had to say it).

Of course you liked him. He wasn't black.
