#1 Post by creep » Fri May 04, 2012 1:27 pm

i was going through some old pictures and pulled out a few pics of a couple shows i saw as a kid. i have a bunch more but i can't find them. this was back in the 80's so they were taken with a piece of shit 110 film camera.

here are a few.

i found a picture that i took of my stereo in my room when i was probably around 17. notice the old school phone, the can of ravoli with the spoon still in it, the bottle of nyquil, the phone number list tacked to the wall (which i still have), the bottle of lotion on my waterbed and the cassette tapes on the wall.

I bet you could sell those pics for interesting amounts of money :noclue:

The bottle of lotion tells me you took care of your genitals from a very early age. Well done.

Creep, love the U2 shots (unforgettable Fire tour, right?) and the FNM photos.

I used to have a lot of photos from shows I caught, mostly between 1980 - 1985 but I could only find a handful in a box that I keep my favorite photos in. Later, I'll post some....

OK, here's a wide selection of photos from shows ranging over the last 30-odd years that I've seen. I used to have a pretty decent Canon 35mm that I had no problem sneaking into shows. My problem was I took horrible photos in bad lighting conditions so this one friend who was pretty good with a camera usually took the best photos of the shows he went with me to. I'd let him pay to get the roll developed and he'd get copies of the best shots and sell them at record swap meets. I used to have literally box fulls of blurred, crappy photos that *I* took that I threw away at some point years ago. I wound up losing that camera at a Dire Straits show at the Pacific Ampitheater around '85 when security saw me using it. It wasn't until I got a decent little early digital camera w/flash that I could get even halfway decent photos (well, except for that NIN show). I have some terrible photos from shows over the last 6 years on my beat-to-hell Blackberry that might make for amusing viewing.

I would have, but I didn't think about it and then it was tough to smuggle a camera. Now that they let us get them in, I rather take videos (just snippets). Awesome pictures, so jealous, my first show was Andy Summers in 90 and like the first biggest one that took place in my city was INXS in 91.

Note Bono's stilts.

I've also never taken pictures of a show. Too busy rubbing my crotch against strangers.

Eddie Van Halen looked way older in 98 than he does now, nice to see how he's turned his life around

Awesome pics. You were a real badass in the 80's! Nice to have a face to match with the screen name...(I make my face available for everyone to see). Great thread!

I know both these guys, and they put this book together entirely from fairly low quality snapshots they took as fans way back when...

I always enjoy pics of bands when they were young and dumb and were just having fun.

Just like the old pics of Jane's Addiction c. 86-89; it's as much about our memories of those years in our lives that make them special. I think it's a pretty cool idea to capture a place and time like that in a way that can take you back to them.

Is there anything comparable for LA when JA, RHCP, etc. were breaking in to the scene? :hs:

Actually, Eddie really hit rock bottom through 2006. Just about everyone I know who saw this photo at the time was shocked he'd gone so far down hill:

so funny to see old concert photo's from the 80's & 90's because before digital cameras becamse the photo's of choice, no one really ever lugged around a camera to shows.

I would have been cool to have taken photo's from The Who at Shea or Bowie during the serious moonlight MSG show
