Coronavirus
Re: Coronavirus
As of March 21st, masking requirements will be dropped in my province. A couple of exceptions apply like hospital settings, LTC homes.
I will continue to mask up on public transit or crowded places.
My "Return to Office" date is May 16th.
May will be one day in office per week, June will be two days per week, July will be full hybrid- 3days in office, 2 days at home.
I'm looking forward to it and also a little bit anxious.

Re: Coronavirus
For the first time since the pandemic started I've mostly dropped the mask. Then again, the most crowded place I ever go is the grocery store. I have some concerts coming up, and I'll probably mask for those. But with numbers being so low, I feel like these are the lulls where we have to live life semi normally. I regret not letting my guard down more last Spring when numbers were so low. I kept thinking "just a little longer," then Delta, then Omicron. So fuck it. I've also finally come to the realization that there really is no avoiding ever getting it. So I'd rather let my guard down when hospitals aren't on the brink of collapse and my booster is fresh.Artemis wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 11:43 amAs of March 21st, masking requirements will be dropped in my province. Re: Coronavirus
My sister is a grade school teacher....they dropped the mask mandate and she and her husband now have covid...numbers are still way too high another month or so of masks for me...but trust me I get the fatigue
Re: Coronavirus
I'm ready to live again but with some caution. I'm the primary caregiver to my 84 year old mother, so have to be careful. If she gets Covid it would be from me or the PSW who helps her.Hokahey wrote: ↑Fri Mar 11, 2022 3:47 pmFor the first time since the pandemic started I've mostly dropped the mask. Throughout the pandemic I've been using public transit(buses mainly) as well as going grocery shopping regularly.
Looking forward to some concerts again and live sporting events like baseball, basketball.

Well, it took 2 1/2 years but I’m in the club now.
I’m about two days into it. Started out Sunday with sinus allergy-like symptoms, lotta post nasal drip, scratchy throat. Monday morning, I knew I was getting sick, low grade fever, achy joints, headache between the eyes, zero energy. Two positive tests confirmed it. Really, the worse thing so far is all the snot going in my stomach feels like I have acid in my belly. Now I’m like on a baby’s schedule, confined to the spare bedroom, I sleep 3 hours, up three hours, mostly watch some tv or read, rinse and repeat. Although I’ve been much sicker in the past from various flus, it’s been about 10+ years since I’ve been even mildly ill.

Welcome friend. I just got it for the first time last month. After 3 days of suffering I got Paxlovid, and was right as rain a few hours after the first dose. Highly recommended. My taste/smell is still a little weird, which sucks because I love to cook. But better than some of the alternatives.Pandemonium wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 2:31 pmWell, it took 2 1/2 years but I’m in the club now.

Re: Coronavirus
Had a cold all last week...some aches, sneezing, congestion, and flema verde. I'm not really social, but I do work fulltime and am in and out of a restaurant...never got it. Vaxed and boosted, but I think I am the only one I know who hasn't. Wife tested positive for 3 weeks a couple of months ago. Feel better

cut way back on sugar and diary about 8 years ago .. haven't even had the sniffles since .. stopped taking vaccines and eating meat 30 years ago .. haven't had a flu since .. haven't worn a mask or stayed home since this bs started .. still no sniffles .. I don't believe in "germ theory" and have yet to find a reason to .. just another perspective in case you want to take control of your health away from these drug pushing predator pharma reps who pretend to care about your health .. they don't make any money keeping you healthy
Re: Coronavirus
Your anecdotal experience is evidence of exactly nothing. Although, making healthy life choices will of course better your odds of getting less sick. In regards to vaccines, I'll trust my friends with PHDs.trevor ayer wrote: ↑Thu Jul 21, 2022 6:59 amcut way back on sugar and diary about 8 years ago .. haven't even had the sniffles since .. stopped taking vaccines and eating meat 30 years ago .. haven't had a flu since .. haven't worn a mask or stayed home since this bs started .. still no sniffles .. Re: Coronavirus
I’ve been on the Paxlovid regime since Tuesday and I honestly don’t know if it’s lessening symptoms or not. It’s pretty much status quo, not getting any sicker, not getting any better yet. If I didn’t have to stay away from the wife and son and could get outta the house and go places, this wouldn’t be a big deal.Hokahey wrote: ↑Wed Jul 20, 2022 7:45 pmWelcome friend. Re: Coronavirus
I did take it when my symptoms were seemingly getting better, but it definitely had a very fast impact. And yes, the quarantine part was the worst. It took us 11 days to test negative, so we tried really hard not to go anywhere.Pandemonium wrote: ↑Fri Jul 22, 2022 5:40 pmI’ve been on the Paxlovid regime since Tuesday and I honestly don’t know if it’s lessening symptoms or not. Re: Coronavirus
So I thought I was through this. I finished my 5 day run of Paxlovid last weekend and tested negative on Sunday. While I never felt 100% the succeeding few days, I'd say I was feeling just a bit run down with low energy, no big deal. I wake up Wednesday morning feeling like total crap and have a low grade fever, test myself and it's positive again. I imagine this is supposed to be the Paxlovid "rebound" but I actually feel more shitty then I have since this all started a week and a half ago. Worse, I gotta isolate again for at least another 5 days.
Re: Coronavirus
I'm hearing this a lot. I was convinced I'd have the rebound, but thankfully didn't. I'm betting it turns in to a longer treatment cycle. I know Fauci had to take it twice, and some doctors are saying a 10 day plan might work better.Pandemonium wrote: ↑Thu Jul 28, 2022 8:44 amSo I thought I was through this. Re: Coronavirus
Well that sucks.
I got COVID a couple months ago, about a month after getting the booster. It wasn't too bad, just a lot of congestion and pressure in my sinus' and a sore throat and low energy. Tested positive for about 5 days. It took a couple weeks to feel mostly better. Now I'm fine.
I'm also hearing a lot of longer haul stories from people who took approved therapeutics. Don't know if that's just the nature of their immune response to COVID, or the therapeutic minimizes impact but draws out natural immunity response

Re: Coronavirus
I got it a month ago. I was lucky and had a mild fever and body aches for 1 day and I was tired for about a week after that.
Re: Coronavirus
I got covid and I am vaxxed and got the boostie.
They originally said if you got vaxxxed and boosted you would NOT get the virus.

Re: Coronavirus
Well, it was never 100% effective. But yes, the virus mutated quite a bit and very quickly. It's still very effective at keeping you out of the hospital.
Re: Coronavirus
I've seen video of Fauci, Biden and Walensky ALL saying the vaccine would prevent the spread of the virus as well as stopping infection. The story only changed after it became obvious that that information was incorrect. I regret getting vaccinated and I hope my immune isn't now destroyed.
Re: Coronavirus
The statistics at the time supported that. The story changed as the virus mutated.TedDums wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 4:21 pmI've seen video of Fauci, Biden and Walensky ALL saying the vaccine would prevent the spread of the virus as well as stopping infection. I assure you, your "immune isn't now destroyed." Rest assured that you're protected MUCH better from severe illness as the data continues to very much support.
Re: Coronavirus
We have to look at this with common sense. They said we'd be protected. They lied. I also hate how NOTHING has been done to China...the ones that released the virus.
It's absolutely insane that noone wants to hold China accountable. We will just vaxx up and wear masks! I'm pissed that I listened to these assholes.

They stated the facts as they existed at the time. The data supported that protection. The virus changed. I'm not sure how many other ways to explain this.TedDums wrote: ↑Tue Aug 02, 2022 5:50 amWe have to look at this with common sense. They said we'd be protected. They lied. Also, while the vaccine won't stop you from getting it, there is this:
I think you need to shift your perspective a bit. Those vaccines are extremely protective against getting severely ill. Isn't that what's important? And isnt that worth being pretty happy about? In another study released today by CDC, two or three doses of the Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine conferred 90% protection against invasive mechanical ventilation or death in adults hospitalized during the delta and omicron periods. Three doses of vaccine conferred 94% protection during the omicron period, the authors said
