US Election 2012

#1 Post by Pandemonium » Tue Nov 06, 2012 6:03 pm

Voted this afternoon with my wife. By far the largest turnout I've ever seen at my local polling place and it seemed to be a lot of older people... like, um... me. I might have to revise my opinion of an Obama landslide win, but I still think he'll keep his job.

I never thought this would be a landslide. I'm not sure how media manipulation would increase their profits. :noclue: Seems that those inclined to watch would do so with a cliffhanger or not what with the senate races, initiatives, etc.

Of those watching, what coverage are you watching? God, Diane sawyer gets on my last nerve. :jasper:

I'm listening to CBC radio's special coverage 'America Votes'
I'll probably watch some of the coverage here.

Dear God. Most of the coverage is getting on my nerves. I could not sit through CNN, MSNBC, or PBS. CBS with Scott Pelley has been the most watchable and hasn't annoyed me (yet).

FL is stressing me out with 83% of the votes in; 50% for each candidate with Romney leading by 636 votes.

cnn seems to be a little more responsible in declaring states winners. other networks are calling way early.

Yeah, she annoys the hell outta me too. it's funny, because I like everyone else that anchors the ABC Nightly News over the other 2 networks and only switch it off if she's anchoring (which is roughly about 60% of the time these days).

Also kinda disturbing that the projected and "confirmed" electoral results so far differ wildly between all five major tv news outlets (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and CNN). You'd think with 21st century tech, they'd be getting and disseminating info and reporting close to the same conclusions.

CBS just projected that Elizabeth Warren won the Massachusetts Senate Race against Scott Brown. I hope they are right. I am not a Brown fan.

Yeah, and the HUGE fuck up 8 years ago. They all have to have a minimum threshold they adhere to to make the call. I'd be surprised if there are any reversals though. In spite of philosophical divides, there are some very capable/smart people in broadcasting.

House is irrelevant once Obama gets a couple more good judges in the Supreme Court (3 more are likely to retire this term).

Sweet irony as Florida looks like it will be Romney's knell.
