It would have been a case of planted evidence resulting in a grand jury's decision to not prosecute as a good kill.

Saddest thing is to have the feeling that this really happens more often than we think...on a side note I was at the main entrance of Grand Central Station on 42nd Street the other day and two visibly drunk girls were cursing out a cop and telling him they were going to report him for not doing his job...they got the tourist treatment by a cabbie (he drove them the LONG way to their destination) and they insisted the cop escort them back the the taxi stand and arrest the driver...the officer refused and told them they should call the TLC and report the driver...I felt bad for the guy who did maintain his composure and was polite despite being badmouthed by the sex and the city rejects...

There's reports on various news outlets alluding to the cop possibly planting "something" like a gun next to the downed victim based on the complete video clip but it actually looks like the cop may have actually tasered the guy (before the filmer got a clear, steady image of the confrontation) and he started running with the taser wires attached to him (or at least his shirt) dragging the taser gun away from the cop behind him. Then the cop calmly takes aim and shoots the guy in the back as he's running away. Maybe that explains why the cop reportedly said the (victim) "took" his taser. It's like with all the similar high profile shit happening just in the past year, you'd think cops would clamp down hard on this kind of clearly unnecessary gunplay but it actually seems to be getting worse.

if that's the case i doubt he would have got away with it video or not. i'm no taser expert but if the guy was tasered he would have marks and you can't easily reload those things can you?

Really? I thought you weren't supposed to tase people just because, nor force them out of the car for no good reason, nor then try to delete the evidence from the person's phone.

Come on, the cop didn't tase that guy "just because." He clearly explained why he stopped them and why he wanted them out of the car, and especially the guy did everything he could to provoke a situation obviously knowing he was in the wrong. And where do you get the cop trying to delete the video from the phone besides the cop looking at it? Doesn't look like he was successful. BTW, doing a little background checking on this clip, the kid had a large bag of pot on him and the girl had some in her purse. Case closed.

I know this is a "behaving badly" thread, but the cops did everything right here. I'm of the belief that if this family had been anything other than white they would all be dead.

Wow, what a mess. It was really hard to figure out what's going on until I watched this on fullscreen mode and could better see the one guy wrestling with the cop and his gun shooting the cop and the other cop shoots the other guy right in the head who was looking to pile on the wounded cop. Not surprised this was in a Walmart parking lot.

I won't ever condone the police shooting and killing unarmed people in general, but if you run from the police you should expect to get your ass kicked at the very least...That being said just the fact that dude stole a horse is hilarious imho...

About 12 years ago I was in the NYC subway, going through the turnstile, my metrocard wasn't functioning properly (I had money, it just wasn't accepting it) I was late for an important meeting and there was a line at the teller person, so without thinking it through I jumped the turnstile, which amounted to a simple step since I am tall. My luck, there were 4 police officers standing there and they rushed at me, I stopped in my tracks thinking oh, fuck, that was stupid. I go through the whole thing and get a ticket, they couldn't figure out what my name was and what state "Oregon" is..... but I get the ticket, then a train comes by, and I was like great, and asked politely, "am I allowed to go?" They said yes, so I book it to the train, I get on and the doors close. ANd then they do a double take and rush after me, they pounded on the train to stop, the train kept going.......stupid me, I was wondering why they rushed the train? ...... I still hadn't paid the fare. I wonder what would have happened if the train had stopped.............or if I were black. :scared:

I paid that ticket that night. :dunce:

I was late for class during the college years and had the same thing happen. I hopped and heard the cops yelling at me...I also notice at the top of the stair case of the station the train was there waiting so I booked for the train. The only thing that saved me was an old lady who stuck her hand in the door and held it for me. I got on the doors closed on the cops and the train pulled off, but I NEVER tried to either hop or run from police again. If that ever happened again I know I would NOT make it...I am 17 years older and 40 lbs heavier...

So let me get this straight...in the last few weeks alone, Walter Scott, Phillip White, Eric Harris, and Freddie Gray all killed while in police custody...

Basically I think it's absurd that police still carry guns at all. What is this: 1790? We have so many non-lethal ways to incapacitate someone, should the need to do so arise. And if there is an absolute need for weaponry, why not leave that to a separate special unit? Like S.W.A.T.?

Cops are the first responders to any possible crime situation. When you have a city like LA, Chicago or NYC where a big majority of criminals are carrying weapons and not afraid to use them you can't wait for a SWAT team to show up when some dick decides he wants to carjack someone or hold up a liquor store and the first guy there is a cop on the beat. You may as well have several thousand SWAT guys stationed throughout a major city which is kind of what we have cops for. And SWAT teams don't have a sterling record either - look at the Waco, Texas Branch Davidian siege. I know cops killing unarmed people for no good reason is getting a lot of press and with good reason these days, but for every bad cop and bad decision made, there's hundreds of others who save lives and stop truly bad guys because those cops are armed. This is not a one-sided problem especially here in the US, there's kids in grade school bringing guns to class and shooting other students - it's the overall gun/crime culture in this country. The problem isn't armed police, it's bad cops who have a screw loose or just bad training and exceed the needs of a situation to take someone down. Something which is clearly a big problem.

I was going to say as much...at least 6 of my buddies are police officers here in NY and they rarely arrest anyone who is actually armed...there are criminals, and then there are violent criminals and they're thankfully in the minority. I don't have any stats to quote but I'll go out on a limb and say that half the people in jail right now aren't there for anything to do with having a weapon or doing anything violent and surely they're criminals. Many many countries have violent crimes being committed daily and few are as well armed as many police officers here in the U.S. are. I think there needs to at least be an attempt made at trying something new and less lethal...

Yeah but still, I bet if your cop buddies were told theyre no longer allowed to carry a gun, all six would resign.
