Would you settle for disgraced, bankrupted (for real, not just the pretend kind for tax-purposes), and ostracized from public life?

Re: Donald Trump running for President.
b) In all total, I have a bet with Hype for $60 for a book from Amazon of one's choice, for: 1) Flat out Biden electoral win, or 2) 46+ state electoral and +55% pop vote for Trump. Also a couple avatar swaps here for a month. Do I really think Trump will get 45+ states, hmmmm....maybe, maybe not. I...

Re: Donald Trump running for President.
I bet you a million pounds it was one big publicity stunt. I entertained this thought briefly before watching video of him speaking. He was clearly under the weather. And given the number of people now testing positive in the WH, there's no doubt this all happened, and happened precisely because th...

There's no credits for any of the samples used, but it is clearly full of samples, and I think you're right about that one.
The music is ok... a bit boring / bland.

Re: The Covers thread
Gorgeous Radiohead cover. JKPaA3p3bJU The piano makes it sound almost too close to a Paul McCartney song. But when Arlo's voice comes in, it really pops -- like, I think they work better together than Tegan and Sara. Phoebe's voice is almost too pure for that song. It gives it an almost iro...

Re: New Perry Farrell's track: "Rock On" (T. Rex)
It's just softened too much. It needs an edge in the vocal and something sharper in the guitar tone (and I think there's piano in the background that should be further forward in the mix). It feels too lethargic.

Yeah. I don't understand the Smashing Pumpkins' turn to gothy dance-pop for the past few years. And yet Billy's solo music has been amazing.

Re: The worst attraction in every state
The worst attraction in the world is Magnetic Hill in Moncton, New Brunswick. Not only is it in Moncton, which is the shittiest shithole in the shittiest province in Canada, but it's literally just a hill that people drive to and then put their cars in neutral and coast down forwards or backwards. T...

1981 so I was on the tail end of Gen X funny thing is my mother was 1965 so she was I guess part of the start of Gen X Your mom was only 16 when she had you?! Wow. I mean, that explains being technically part of the same "generation". Yeah lucky for her (and me) she had a loving family that accepte...

Re: Now Watching...
I love Trailer Park Boys. In fact, I watched their 12 seasons in a row last year. It's bizarre comedy, like a mockumentary with lots of sarcasm and disasters going on. First 2 or 3 chapters are slow burners, but then it gets going! They are from Canada. I suggest you watch the original series on Ne...

Oh man... I just had a frightening thought: imagine if Trump somehow figures out how to use this to cancel the election? https://twitter.com/TheRickWilson/status/1288820962373316608 The thing that I find so disturbing is how many of us say: "He can't. It's illegal. Congress will stop him...

Re: Then new TOOL song
I think Undertow is my ultimate fav, but Opiate is the one that I play the most. TOOL is one of those bands from that era that I find it hard to go back to. Like RATM. They're not timeless, despite how incredible they are. They suit a very specific mood and time and it's difficult to enjoy them outs...

great photo, just curious as when, ideas? ja-01.jpg Those green gloves are in some other photos. Dave and Stephen are in the band, so it's after the other guys left. But pretty early days. 1986. Total shot in the dark because I obviously know nothing about LA venues, but I'd say Raji's. They...

Yes. We all read/heard about those articles/news stories at the time. All I am pointing out (and I realize it's stupid and pedantic at this point, but I do think it's important because misinformation and scientific illiteracy are literally killing people right now) is that there is a world of differ...

One theory that looks to have been disproved is that warm Summer temps would burn out the virus. That hasn't happened. That was never a theory. That was Trump confusing Covid-19 with the Flu and claiming it would be gone by April because he's a craven lunatic / idiot. Epidemiologists have been clea...

Most people who don't mention xxx were too young to know it when it came out...I loved xxx and always think of Jane's great 3 (I fucking hate covers but loved the ones on xxx) I love XXX but I don't think of it as a proper record. I thought it was one of those fake indie things a bunch of bands did...

Well, yeah, it’s not like the legend has anything left to it these days. It’s two awesome albums from 30 years ago and a couple of weird things they did after. The rest is worthless.

Re: Perry Farrell on 80s Hard Rock Hit
Why did I never realize that Perry's mother committed suicide? Did you forget? I thought that was pretty well known. That's why she's mentioned in Then She Did... "Will you say hello to my ma? Will you pay a visit to her? She was an artist just as you were... I'd have introduced you to her... She'd...
