Re: Secret Santa?

So... has anybody received anything yet? Larry! Three weeks ago, I opened a mystery box with three gifts and three different notes: "Step 1: Combine with one of the other presents. Step 2: Make sure it's not with the mustard or magazine*. Step 3: Drink. If it tastes of mustard or magazine, check St...

Re: some noname's cover of pfp

The album’s first single, “Diving Away,” is a cover of Porno For Pyros 1996 track “Porpoise Head.” Tricky explains: "I toured with them in Australia in 1996. My daughter Mazy, who was about four years of age, was with us and she had frontman Perry Farrell wrapped round her little finger. He took all...

I saw this back in August; he really was on the vanguard of so much of what's taken for granted on the web these days.

Always thought he captured the spirt of the band well, too:

Re: The Real Rock Husbands of Mailbu

Michael Douglas playing Liberace kinda looks like PF. There's no way that's not Perry playing Michael Douglas playing Liberace. "cash in now honey..." Ironic. I've just started going through the top layers of sediment that make up this collection (I hadn't opened this box in 15 to 20 years) f...

UGGGGH. Even though I'm a 1.0 diehard, this is what I miss most about Perry: the grittiness and edge, the will-fight-you aspect. He's older, yeah, but there's no it there. (I think the cat on the tables is Skatemaster Tate [I remember Perry condescendingly saying at a Denver show, "you don't know hi...

Re: I want to buy magazines/scans of Jane's Addiction

I've been waiting for this moment since the breakup back in 1991! Everyone get their bags packed, 'cause Fabrizio is about to pay for the first annual ANR meatspace meet-up, location TBA. Airfare, accommodations, food, drinks and $1000 in spending cash are all on yours truly. OBSESSIVE HOARDING, FTW...

People that understand the demise of a once-great band and are (mostly) down with mustard and knishes? I'm crushing hard . As a Member of the Tribe, give me a potato pie and some Ba-Tampte mustard and I'm in nirvana. Anyone else graduate from Poupon U? http://mustardmuseum.com/poupon-u/ (yes, there ...

Fuckin' chills indeed; I just fell in love all over again for the millionth time, and it only confirms why the current incarnation impacts me the way it does. We've witnessed dreck for like what- 12 or 13 years now?- that it's easy to forget the tour-de-force majesty of what once was. Nothing (very ...

Brother, you always bring it- straight or inebriated. Great thoughts. I guess maybe upon reflection, my biggest disappointment is realizing that the well wasn't that deep; I thought this was someone who would always have something insightful to say, be able to reinvent himself à la Bowie, age gracef...

I'ts almost to the point where I feel Perry was a sham or a fluke. Like, his best several years, that he's been milking ever since have been some sort of strange mistification. I've not seen anyone (maybe didn't care enough to notice) become something with almost nothing in common with the previous...

Absolutely fantastic. They sound tight, and I loved the keyboard work.

Like Peyton Manning here in the Rocky Mountains, it's a bummer when the head guy is actually the weak link on the team/group.

I agree... at this point, I'd actually be up for a concert of instrumentals, sans crooning.

There are no never-before-heard outtakes.
Perk was really good about curating everything from the very beginning; you don't think he's sitting on anything worth releasing, even for all eight of us that would be interested?

Great hypothetical question- I love stuff like this. Personally, I think there's too much damage done, too many influences *cough* Etty *cough* that would negatively impact anything new. For myself, the only thing that would really get me stoked again is an emptying of the vaults: rare shows picked ...

Chile's finest: Thanks for checking in- good to hear all your peeps are safe and sound. But they'd also be baked out of their collective minds, s...
