Re: Janes NS show LA 9/20
I answered that already... I know I wrote some long posts, but this is why... if you don't read properly you believe some stupid shit. Here's another link: http://www.factcheck.org/2008/04/americans-making-more-than-250000/ 250k+ HOUSEHOLDS are 2%... that's not single income earners. I never said s...

Re: Janes NS show LA 9/20
... And again, keep in mind how the brackets work... it's not "If you make $50,000 you pay 25%." It's: If you are a single filer and make 50,000, you are taxed at 25% for the portion of your income between $36,901-50,000 -- that is, 25% of $13,099, or $3274.75. Add to that the 907.50 for the first ...

Re: Janes NS show LA 9/20
Thanks for that, Romeo, that's really helpful. Notice that even in the 1984 numbers (that list 250k as the upper BOUNDARY of "middle class"), they're clear that this is HOUSEHOLD INCOME, not single salaries, though I suppose "traditional" families might have a single breadwinner who could make 250k...

Re: 9/11 - Ten Years Later
Another year. I remember seeing the plane hit tower 2. I remember counting the floors to make sure it didn't hit where my wife worked. I remember thinking she is fine. I remember not leaving my desk until she called. I remember getting her call and calling her parents. I remember my video feed cutti...

Re: Your 10 Desert Island Albums
You mention U2.....they have been mentioned before. October, Boy, and War all remind me in feel (production, honesty, youthful fearlessness) of Jane's 1.0 I should have included War All of those are excellent, but for me Achtung Baby represents a crazy time in my life. I think everyone has certain ...

Re: Michael Brown
In the "real" world, you're not going to have these conversations with strangers and if you have them with people of color who you're at the very least acquainted with as I said, you're allowed to state how you feel politely and you should be fine. So who's going to call you a racist? I honestly do...

Re: Michael Brown
It's one thing to have a stereotype in your head...how you act on it or treat people as a result of it determines whether it's harmful or not. It's possible to be honest about how you feel about people who are different from you without saying anything that could be considered the least bit racist....

This type of thing will continue to happen because at the end of the day (and this thread is a good example) people are afraid to speak truthfully about race...one of the bravest guys I ever met was a white hipster dude I met 5 years ago who had just moved to Bed Stuy before it became "safe" for wh...

I've mentioned Fox because you and SR mention it. It seems to me that is your obsession.
I love how you embrace others with different view points and how open minded you are. Maybe you should read Andrew W.K. http://blogs.villagevoice.com/music/201 ... ng_dad.php.

Re: Janes NS show LA 9/20
If there is a NYC show I'd be tempted, but I just keep thinking the last few shows I've seen have been awful. One of which I almost walked out. One positive is that it won't be in the middle of a tour, which means Perry's voice won't be tired and might make it through 4 and a half songs instead of ...

Can anyone explain to me why the looting? How does that help the community that you live in? It shows a complete lack of respect for your community. Protesting I get, but looting never made any sense to me.

Police have said Brown was shot after an officer encountered him and another man on the street during a routine patrol. They say one of the men pushed the officer ...

Re: Michael Brown
Yeah, the versions given by the cop and the witness are at odds. It is strange though that the police have not interviewed the witness who was with Brown when he was shot. It also doesn't make sense that an unarmed, eighteen-year old with no record is looking to assault a cop as he is walking in th...

No I'm talking about the shooting of Michael Brown. Why did the cop shoot him, was there cause. As far as I've seen there hasn't been an official statement on what happened. I might be wrong on that.

A side note...the term "reverse" racism is BS to me...black people don't have the power to be racist...prejudice yes, racist no. There is a distinct difference... I'm curious to know how black people can't be racist. Or why you think black people don't have the power to be racist. racism is institu...
