Re: April 2023 Tour Thread

Perry has got it going with this. To have each guy play what they are best at. I can see Josh adding the punk/funky/surf rhythms and solos. Daniel may be adding some effects, noises, atmospherics and possibly slice of life type acoustic parts. Troy would be for the backing atmospheric tones, Velvet...

Re: April 2023 Tour Thread

Daniel Ash is also mentioned in the RS interview. Having DN back, with Daniel, Troy and Josh all working in the studio adding different guitar parts making it better. If this happens with all of those guys Perry mentioned...Well now I am really interested. They must have been writing a lot on this t...

Re: PFP - New official Instagram and Website

Weirdly … I’m digging the ramshackle nature of these performances Perry kind of directing the songs at points. Hope a full recording shows up That's what I liked about it too. It was jagged, like anything could happen unplanned. I liked to see Perry clearly was the one directing the show. Would lik...

Re: New Podcast Interview w/ Stephen

This clip has 2011 Perkins playing good rhythm for JA when he wants to. If this had been on TGEA like it was supposed to, with the other 2 montage outake clips from 2011 I'd like TGEA, but it wasnt. Who took this out Perry 7e6ErLn2fOo This was also a good example of what Dave can do. He can create ...

Re: New Podcast Interview w/ Stephen

In the montage vid in the previous post I liked how there was tape reel running in the studio, it was b&w and Perry had on a P. Murphy style suit dancing around in the studio clearly into the music they were making. From the preview it sounded like they were going to deliver a Bobhaus-Addiction but ...

Re: Navarro: What makes him great?

Dave's guitar part at 1:07 in the 2011 montage vid below "makes him great" Why would Dave want to do any more recording with JA when his best playing since Ritual doesn't get included in the album. None of this cool sounding shit ended up on the record. That’s why TGEA was terrible. Why was this mo...

...and they're playing a lot of the songs they used to leave off like Trip Away thanks to Perry. More likely thanks to Eric seeing as he considers himself a champion of the 1.0 days. I agree Perkins has a lot to prove. Hopefully playing the old P4P songs has reminded him of how he used to play. The...

Re: New Podcast Interview w/ Stephen

Perkins drum logo on this tour looks like a copy of an Aerosmith logo. That logo doesn't give me any hope Perkins will play anything but 2.0 style JA on the new songs-Perkins may be the weak link. I used to think PF was the weak link but I think Perry is sounding more 1.0 now and in 2022 than recent...

Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread

When Jane's broke up back in 1991 and reunited to record Strays, Perry said something like what i've noticed afrer all these years apart is how much better musicians they are now. I'm sure it's true but they never seemed to showcase Perkins talent. They were better musicians before Strays than afte...

Could you imagine being Eric standing rright to the left of Perry while he's singing "when was the last time, you did anything". Rumour has it... It was about Dave no? That line could also refer to Perkins, not only Dave. Perkins can sound good live and some of his solo rhythms are phenomenal. www....

Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread

I worry that if Dave does come back, (which he will not, he’s done) but if he does, it will just go back to sounding average at best. The best being, a surprisingly good show with Cheney playing, or at worst, NINJA. I’ll be honest, I haven’t ever really considered any of the post 1991 shows, as JA ...

Re: New Podcast Interview w/ Stephen

I liked Perk's drum tuning and the different percussive pieces he used on Kettle Whistle live 2001. 5OzhDIN0oKU The more recent versions of Kettle his drum tuning is lower and plays it differently. The way he played it in 2001 is more tribal than now. The worldexotic intro is missing from recent ver...

Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread

They played Obvious? No, more to the point... Eric played Obvious? Has he ever played Obvious, I think even the studio recording had a session guy on it. I know they played it with Martyn on the Jubilee tour. If Eric is actually playing Obvious, that shows there is just a ton of water under the bri...

Listened to it 3 times but don't want to hear it again. TGEA was the same, about 1 to 3 listens each song and never listened again. The vocal is the weak link repeats "true love" too many times and doesn't go anywhere. Maybe they can add some parts to make it better in the studio. The vocal needs t...

Troy's guitar sound is a lot better in my opinion. Troy's playing is pro, 100 percent. Josh not so much. They should have kept Troy in.

Re: New Podcast Interview w/ Stephen

I hope Perk can come up with rhythms that sound good without any backing like Chip Away does. If I could produce a JA track I'd see if Perk could pick up where Chip Away left off. Add some slappy bass lines to that style; with guitar as the "backing" not the focus. There would be parts with drums, b...

You guys realize that’s road from Life.Time right? Eric said he wanted to rework it back in 2014 Yeh, I noticed too. Wasn’t it originally a Jane’s idea from back during the Reznor sessions? Anyway.. Re: JA March 2023 Tour Thread

Anyway.. I like the vibe, rhythm section sounds great. The lyrics in the first verse are a little cringy. As someone mentioned it’s Ernest and genuine. It’s cool. My only criticism is Josh’s guitar parts add absolutely nothing to it. Just atmospheric fumbling.. kinda ‘poke and prey’ stuff. It’s sor...
