Re: Interesting post by Eric

I've got a small stack of BAM mags I kept that featured articles on favorite artists dating back to around 1980 in a big box with some other key issues of Rolling Stone and Brit metal mag Kerrang. I'm sure I have at least a couple cover articles featuring Janes in there.

Re: I'm seeing pink??

I'd suggest moving away from the "shades of light blue" board color scheme altogether, especially if you're going to make thread titles black. Just go monotone, blacks and shades of black (or gray) and even consider white text on black backgrounds. I like the simple yet effective color scheme on the...

Re: Interesting post by Eric

I have no issue with how the albums sounded. That music deserved the epic production it received. Up the Beach would not have sounded the same otherwise. There's nothing like turning NS on, cranking the volume up and letting that song stomp on your fucking face. I'm not a big fan of the production ...

Re: Interesting post by Eric

I found it fascinating that Rick Rubin was ready to sign them without Perry before NS even came out, and that they were ready to do it. Sort of a precursor to what led to Deconstuction on American. I remember an LA Times writer (might have been Robert Hilburn) reviewing NS when it was released and ...

Re: Interesting post by Eric

I think there's a bit of bullshit I-was-there claims snaked from the "Whores" book going on in his article but I do recall the writer's band Devine Weeks playing the LA club circuit right around when Janes and Guns n' Roses were just breaking big at the same time. I think they were a bit like early ...

 i just don't see it as that much of a risk. they have shed a lot of bad debt and should be profitable next quarter. I think BoA is a great stock to invest in right now if you're looking to ride out the next 5 - 10 years with it. I don't think the government would let it fail, it would be cata...

Steve Jobs Resigns From Apple

It sadly sounds like his health is taking a nosedive. Much as I sometimes lament some of the stuff Apple has done and issues with their products over the last decade, there's no denying that Steve Jobs almost single-handedly turned that company from a alternative home computer maker to the biggest a...

Q: How do you ensure your representatives won't be Raptured? A: Actually, we don't ensure it, they do. Each of our representatives has stated to us in writing that they are atheists, do not believe in God / Jesus, and that they have blasphemed in accordance with Mark 3:29, negating any chance of sa...

It's already better than strays just from an artistic standpoint Well, if you mean they brought in better outside help than they did for the Strays album, then yeah, I could make that assumption as of today as well. After two finished songs, I have yet to be convinced this new album is going to be ...

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

Regarding sales of music and movies on physical media, first week sales are extremely crucial now more than ever. The first week a major name artists' album is released is when it's most advertised and offered discounted by major retailers. Like a movie premier, the first week is the biggest opportu...

Well, I like Perry's attitude and take on the other musicians. I think to some degree the unflattering comments about certain (older) musicians could be applied to himself though.

That would explain how they were all able to get accounts, yet every time I tried to sign up it would tell me my account must be activated by a moderator. I think that feature changed a number of times through the last few years. I was originally booted off Xiola after a day's worth of mocking Mich...

Another thing that continues to be asked of me is: why don’t you link to the new community? It’s very simple really. I am responsible for xiola.org and i took the shit for that website for years. In that same sense i don’t want to use my domain to link to a site, that i am not sure about. The new s...

Here in California we call that Tuesday... It's been pretty calm the last few years here in SoCal. it's saving up for a big fart... Well, we're way overdue for a big one, that's for sure. I occasionally picture local areas like Huntington Harbor and the Balboa Penninsula faring poorly if we ever ha...

Re: Laser eye treatment

It's weird, my vision's actually steadily improved the past few years. I've been nearsighted since my 20's, so I usually wear glasses when driving, watching tv, movies, concerts, etc. Despite the inconvenience of glasses, I've never had a desire to get laser surgery. I will say when I did hyperbaric...

I just read on Blabbermouth that the album has been pushed back a week, so it is now set to be released on October 4th. Anyone want to speculate on why? Usually labels pull albums UP if they are good (or have leaked due to high interest) Who else does Capital have on the schedule for September 27th...

I didn't feel a thing in midtown Manhattan...I'm sure there were some tremors, but I don't care what number they give it...no mass destruction, no real trouble...move along, nothing to see here... not bad at all. definitely the "red hot older peppers." it's a grower. not really blown away by any of it, but flea sounds fantastic as always.
