Re: Rockstar Energy Uproar Tour

This is great rendition of Classic Girl from 2012: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jf6pKwumAQw

Perry sounds so into it.

Re: another soulmate-listen here

Regarding the Trent sessions, I'd forgotten this interview with Perry from around that time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUiHb56z ... =endscreen

He shows a certain amount of self-awareness and understanding of the situation - perhaps more than some people would give him credit for.

I always liked the title track and 'To Me'.

Re: New Jane's album "Embrace the Darkness" coming 2014/2015

Anyone who thinks Eric wasn’t the creative lynchpin of this band needs their head examined. Everything good about this band happened while he was a member of it. I still don't buy this hypothesis, regardless of how far Perry has fallen. Listen to Sadness, Meija, 100 Ways, Cursed Female and Hard Cha...

Re: Porno For Pyro's Agua coming soon....

You can hear that Agua was written back when Perry still wrote cool vocal melodies. It sounds nothing like what he's been putting out since 2002. It's not a classic but, had it been released in '96, I think we'd all like it as much as Cook the Rice, Bali Eyes, Kimberley Austin etc. The fear is that ...

Re: Juan Alderete (the mars Volta) recalls auditioning for P

It's fascinating. Perry genuinely seems to have lost his marbles some time around 1998 and never got them back. Obviously he was a bizarre character prior to that but, for some reason or another, his decision-making was better. One question I kept wanting Sonny to ask Eric in those interviews was " ...

Re: another soulmate-listen here

It's weird to me that we just keep going over the same topics over and over and over again. At this point we're almost like ghosts that don't know that they're dead. Which is OK by me. I like you guys and this is a fine place for a haunting. I have a question though: are there any other bands that ...

Re: New Dave Interview

Wasn't that back when ANR.com and xiola co-existed? I remember Dave playing "Ain't No Right" the song, and saying "it's also the name of a Jane's Addiction fan site" or words to that effect.

Maybe that was a completely separate occasion.

Re: Eric leaves NIN

For all his pretentiousness and questionable solo output, Eric seems to be the only member of Jane's who understands the importance of credibility and the factors that influence that. I found it very revealing when he said in the xiola interviews that the reunion primarily appealed to him because th...

Re: I'll Protect You/Beneath the Ground

It's a fairly unremarkable bassline. It doesn't sound like Jane's 1.0 to me at all.

The outro to Embrace the Darkness is what I'd be interested in hearing. The alleged bass groove, tribal drums and echo-drenched vocal. It will no doubt surface one day.

Re: New Dave Interview

Dave really seems defeated in this interview when talking about Jane's. He has no interest in "detail", i.e. any band decisions. He doesn't know if 'Another Soulmate' is even for sale yet. He didn't know about the live album. All he wants to do is show up and play the songs. He "wishes" they could ...

Re: another soulmate-listen here

Haven't posted since the demise of xiola but I had to write something when I heard 'Another Soulmate'. It is absolutely awful on every level: musically, lyrically, artistically. It almost seems deliberately bad. Dave and Perk have always been puppy dogs but going along with this just seems so spinel...
