Re: Spring/Summer 2015 tour...

Jane's played the electric factory in Philly last night. I had no interest in going. Instead, I went to Faith No More the night before. It was a great show and I love the new album. As I left the concert, I saw Jane's on the marquee and thought "if only the Jane's reunion in '08 had followed the sam...

Re: Amazing CA bands with shitty singers

http://pitchfork.com/reviews/albums/15910-janes-addiction/ I think it's funny that Pitchfork, of all sites, hits the nail on the head when it comes to Jane's: As slickly produced as Nothing's Shocking and Ritual de lo Habitual were, you always got the sense that Jane's Addiction were a band of four ...

Just gave those songs a spin. A lot better than I remember them being two years ago when they came out. Some cool bass stuff on these songs too.

I wonder if he kept perk's drum track on beneath the ground, like he said in the xiola interview.

Re: Jane's and 38 Special

I was reading an interview with FNM the other day. They were talking about how they were able to make a new record because they genuinely admire what each person brings to the table creatively. Jane's does not, and never really had this. This is why the band never moved forward artistically in a sat...

Re: Jane's and 38 Special

I hate to be beat a dead horse but remember when Jane's toured with Oscar winning composer Trent Reznor and they were on the cusp of recording an album with him and Eric Avery? It fucking blows my mind. There are three legitimate eras of Jane's: 1.0 Relapse EA's return (granted, there was potential...

"Definitive" Version of Whores?

This is arguably one of Jane's signature songs, yet jane's 1.0 never properly recorded it. It's almost like a Jazz standard in that there are strong melodic themes, but there is a lot of room for interpretation. For example, sometimes bass intro is drawn out, with Stephen adding some tribal drum emb...

Perry's laptop song from the reznor sessions

Anyone else think the song Perry initially brought to the sessions was some iteration of underground? Perry had played it at coachella the year before. Could've sounded awful before the band put their spin on it. Let's blindly speculate and bring this forum to life!

Re: The Legacy Of Jane's Addiction: A Thread.

I was 12 in 2001 when they did jubilee, and it was kind of the first time they were on my radar because the local radio station was really excited about it (not just doing obligatory hyping). So even at that age, I got the impression there was something special and cool about them. From there I star...

Re: Will they ever make another record?

http://www.billboard.com/articles/news/268858/janes-addiction-reunion-marred-by-feuds Farrell said not many groups from the early days of alternative rock are still playing together, and he estimated Jane's Addiction had a "small, five-year window left." This was from 2009. Seems pretty accurate at ...

Re: Will they ever make another record?

It's high time they released embrace the darkness. Even if it sucks, we have a lot of context for the song and no one would be disappointed. At WORST, it would be an interesting insight into what happened when the original four got together in the studio after 20 years. In the six years since that s...

4 years between when Jane's broke up again in 2004 and Eric came back. They've been going ever since and are set to surpass the length of their original run from '85 to '91. Yes and no. Perry sings mountain song with FF and Joe Walsh

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jv5rW16IMQc This pretty confirms Perry should only be singing Jane's songs in standard tuning, with echo on his vocals. I'm genuinely surprised with how good he sounds here. Makes me bummed more than ever that they tuned down a whole step for NINJA. Edit: can't seem t...
