Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

i still just really don't understand how Perry is the one who puts the least effort into this band and the art isn't done. Every single damn day, Dave's tweets were "going to the studio" or he'd post a video of him in the studio. What was Perry doing while the other 4 guys were writing music togeth...

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

Wait, so the artistic direction of this album relies solely on Perry, who has just now set aside some time to be artistic? This is going to suck. It's going to be rushed and half-assed. My guess is Capitol Records rejected the Fusilli Perry album cover that his kids put together one evening on the ...

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

hmm .. i think that is what janes does now .. avery, duff, sitek, cheney all had sessions with different songs that may or may not show up and I thought I heard they had like 30 songs I think they should do what they used to do .. write 50 songs but take 20 of them and combine them into 7 epic mons...

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

I've mentioned a bunch of times that some Duff stuff, particularly Another Soulmate, (think that's the name) was "radically reworked" with Sitek. I guess Dave and Steve wanted to scrap all that Duff stuff out of anger/frustration with his departure, but Perry thought there was some potential there....

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

That's if our boys there don't push it back to the first quarter of 2013. I need them to rip the Band-Aid off quick. If this record is deleted beyond the Oct. drop, JA is dead to me. OK, deader. :banghead: You know its about prolonging the pain and making us suffer as fans. That is part of the "mys...

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

Ha! Well, clearly, I meant "delayed," and autocorrect plus me not paying enough attention produced "deleted." The sentence has multiple layers of truth.

Re: NJ Show

Jane's is playing House of Blues on 10/21 in Atlantic City NJ..Tix are on sale now. Got mine. I bet it will be the same set unforunately. The album will be out by then and I guarantee you they'll be playing at least 3 songs off it, probably ETTL, IF and one other. Add to that "Just Because" and may...

Re: Perry interviews Tom Morello

Saw rage in I think 91 or something, before the first album came out. One of the only bands I've ever seen who completely slayed me without my having heard one note of their music before. I'll always admire them for that. Still didn't top my JA '90 and '91 experiences, though. Never saw Porno. Wante...

As much as I'd love to relitigate the failed promise of the digital revolution and the paucity of vision of the major copyright aggregators, I gave at the office. Let's talk about Dave's tattoos or Perry's cape! :yeay:

Re: JA's current Capitol deal (and promotion)

360 deals are pretty much the standard these days...3 yrs ago I was in a band that had a bunch of majors at every show and that's all they were offering...hence why I'm back in corporate america...the only way to make money is to at least go platinum...otherwise you're playing LG shows... Reco...

Re: JA's current Capitol deal (and promotion)

Yep. That's the history I'm familiar with. I used to loathe Michael Anthony, but anyone who says he didn't contribute some really significant bass to Fair Warning (the best VH record, and the only one I really can stand to listen to anymore) is nuts. Eddie would have been a monster talent on any ins...

Re: JA's current Capitol deal (and promotion)

That's nuts. I was wondering about what was going on with the VH record. Eddie is insane, and Dave is Dave. I suppose it wouldn't come off without a hitch.

Re: JA's current Capitol deal (and promotion)

BTW, wasn't one of the main reasons for the '97 reunion was because Jane's still owed Warner Bros one more album plus a promotional tour and they managed to get away with the couple month tour, a few new songs and a bunch of rare tracks via Kettle Whistle? This would be news to me. In fact, Kettle ...

Re: JA's current Capitol deal (and promotion)

I don't think they spent much on the recording or videos, but I can't imagine that PF didn't negotiate an advance. Maybe they go cheap on the other stuff. My real point is that the hidden hand with the LG and corporate stuff might be Capitol, because in a 360 deal, they'd get a cut. Now, I know the ...

JA's current Capitol deal (and promotion)

This is something I've been pondering for awhile, but the recent issue of Entertainment Weekly prompted me to post. Yes, I'm copping to reading EW (but it's my wife's subscription, ha). The reason I bring it up is because it's their Fall Music Preview, and EW is exactly the kind of old media rag tha...

Yeah, wow. That's a lotta Strays. I doubt that this tour -- which probably won't be too geographically ambitious -- will feature more than 3 TGEA songs, tops.

I wanna hear a report about tonight's club show, too. With Perry's voice in the condition it's in, the backing track on IF is guaranteed.

If Perry could do dubstep well, that might be interesting. I am fairly certain he cannot.
