Re: iHeartRadio - 9/23

Even though I loathe Clear Channel with the white-hot hatred of a thousand suns, I tried intermittently to tune in and kept missing them. (I did give up pretty quickly.) Does anyone know what the set was? Pretty sure I could guess...

God, how I wish it was a Meatloaf cover. Would be the perfect compliment to Perry's Voodoo garb — an excuse to bring back the cape!

Re: New review

Back on topic, there is an 8/10 review in this months Metal Hammer (UK). I don't have a scanner, but key points raised include: -Dave Navarro appears, but there are only a couple of guitar solos to speak of -'Twisted Tales' is like Depeche Mode with guitars -'Splash a Little Water On It' is "like S...

Re: Go back in time: KW

Always loved Maceo. It's a legit side of Jane's, and, as a cat guy, I can relate. "I think he thinks that I'm his dad... because we saved him from the pound." I was also psyched to have an official CD recording of a pretty good live "Three Days" take that could go with the cassette recordings that I...

Re: Album Cover

Apparently we saw the cover art before Perry did. This JUST went out on Perry's Twitter about 5:12am ET 9/19/2011 How? Where? Rt @CrisJoyner: finally saw the new cover art ...u are brilliant man God bless you"  Wonder if the guy actually replied to him and told him where he was seeing it...

Re: John Anson Ford Theater

The Ford Theater's a nice place to see a band. It's outdoors and barely holds 1,000 people. The one thing to consider is parking if there's an event going on the same night at the Hollywood Bowl which is nearby but that doesn't seem to be the case for these two shows. Coincidently, the only show I'...

Re: Articles/Interviews - The ANR Exclusives

I've enjoyed going through these; many I've encountered, some are new. Like the Jay Babcock interview with Perry from '01 (I think). Here's a great line: "Eric Avery--I wanna record with Eric Avery again. I wanna make up with him. I don’t know why it hasn’t happened yet, but... maybe I’ll have to tr...

Re: Jane's Fall Club Tour

I'd go to a Jane's club show for $35 without hesitation if I was in the area. I'm not driving the 6 hours to Chicago. Maybe had there been a planned meet up or something. Creep and I could have worn our ANR Admin shirts we made when we started the site up. are they yellow? I was going to ask that. ...

What the fuck? Is this a joke? People are going to think I'm nuts when I buy this at Best Buy. Isn't that the point? Re: Album Cover

sometimes things that don't normally go together work, but not in this case. it's surprising because PF seems to care about style, and the mismatched fonts are not stylish, imo. There has for some time been a gulf between what Perry seemingly cares about and his execution. The SP cover and the Vood...

Re: Album Cover

i think if you take it for what it is, it's probably pretty mediocre. But once you start actually considering the meaning behind everything in the room, it seems kind of cool. the more we discuss it, the more i like it. I said "artless." It is actually grotesque, amateurish, juvenile and annoying. ...

Not bad, especially for those of us who feel that he gets short shrift (or isn't much of an interview subject):

I heard IF on the local rock station driving home last night. Turned it up really loud. Really amazing music. Can deal with the verses. Love the chorus. Yeah the verses are what ruins the song. Otherwise it's pretty solid. Or... should i not express that opinion publicly? The song 2 minutes i...

Re: The official "The Great Escape Artist" thread

I HATE IF. I am cool with ETTL and the snippets of underground I have heard. Look, this is an internet message board full of dicks. It's a nerdy ass interest we all share: ' Jane's Addiction ' Just give your opinion, and defend it. You can't be everybody's friend! I kind of like everyone here. The ...

It's true. If they had been able to release more stuff, we'd at least have been slowly acclimated to the Jane's we have today. Not saying it wouldn't still be disappointing, but maybe not quite so shocking. So to speak.

I don't understand how people can say that "Irresistible Force" sounds like U2. That would imply that it is good. :hehe: You can copy a good sound badly. This is not to say that I consider U2 or Coldplay to be good sounds. U2 has some tolerable stuff, but while we're on the subject, you keep surpri...
