Wrestling might be just a tad worse, because Billy actually stops the show to do the skit. Etty is annoying, but it's more like ugly wallpaper.

Re: Voice overload: the missing element

The thing that brings me down is that I picture Perry being lazy in the studio... like "ok, was that good enough? k, let's move on"... and/or the stupid producer deleting some takes. Have you listened to the Mountain Song multitrack that Pillar Girl (I believe) uploaded last month? Isolate Perry's ...

Re: Voice overload: the missing element

i was watching '3 days' last week and noticed that during the relapse tour, perry's vocs sounded 'stereo'd'--i thought it sounded better than the mixes for the new stuff. but then again, he was still singing in a higher register. nowadays, we all know he's 2-3 steps down from the originals, so mayb...

Re: Voice overload: the missing element

That's about right. His multitracking did give a certain dimension to the recorded works. I especially liked it when he was ever-so-slightly flat or sharp on one of the vocals, or when he bent the end of a phrase to a minor key if the melody was major and vice-versa. Cool flourishes that distinguish...

I think Hoka was limiting it to Rock (or at least alternative) charts. Which probably elminates the Jonas and Shelby.

Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th

Seriously, Noel Gallagher? His brother's new band released the best Oasis album since 1995 earlier this year and it barely registered a pulse on Billboard. What makes you think his older brother's album of acoustic torch songs is going to place any better? Beady Eye is the terriblest terrible that ...

I like M83. I have since 2005. Never heard of Shelby Lynne so I'll take your word for it. Country fans don't tend to steal their music as much. I'll go on record as saying Jane's will be the #1 rock album. Who wants to make a bet? Winner creates losers avatar for a month. First week only? I'...

I'd seriously consider coming down from DC, I'm in NYC on the 13th and 14th anyway, and I don't feel like a) staying extra, or b) coming back up. Would be fun to meet up for a drink, though.

Re: Jane's chart competition on October 18th

M83s entire US tour is sold out right now. Multiple nights/shows were even added and those sold out too. I think the new album, especially being a double, is going to sell well. They are pretty high up on the "this is cool" list right now. Shelby will win, duh. But don't count out M83 for a strong ...

So far I am into TGEA. I really enjoy both songs. Much more mystery and atmosphere than "Strays". I really like the cover art although I was repulsed at first. The videos are a distraction... though not horrid like True Nature. I'm positive, though apprehensive. I'm probably hovering around the sam...

Only if you can't read through their hipster stance on it all. i read bad reviews sometimes and think "that sounds like i would love it" No, they have simply lowered the quality of writing around music. I'm glad that P-fork and Buddyhead help you find the records you want to hear, but as criticism,...

When was the last time they played "Then She Did..."? Have they played it post NIN/JA with either Duff or Chris? Seems like it would be appropriate for the TGEA Jane's. Just don't tell Etty it's about Xiola. (Or Perry's mom.)
